Description These are some of my OCs. You may have seen some of them before, or not, since I redesigned/renamed them a bit hehe...

Lirathy Ostril (the Amell origin, but her family/history isn't compatible with the Hawkes so I had to change it. Probably obvious I spent the most time on her, but I had to get her expression right--because OMG she is my most favoritest OC ever, my prickly little woobie ;_; <3)

Eadith "Eydie" Cousland (Duelist)

Nehren Mahariel (Archer/Spirit Warrior) He randomly started as an OTP with Poly's Yarlee Brosca [link] but I have since fleshed him out quite a bit. He still plays it cool.

Miragray Surana (Tranquil/Herbalist) Weird fact, I had her named Marigray, but then heard the song "Mira..." by Nyctalgia and flipped it around...

Via Alda Aeducan (Berserker)

They are all in the fic I started writing like, I don't know, a little after DA: O first came out hahaha yikes. I figured I might as well start posting stuff. Lirathy and Eydie are the two main characters, everyone else just has cameos... might throw in a Tabris, but I haven't decided if it will be male or female yet. (Brosca was killed in the Proving. )

So pretty! I like how the mage and elves look sad because, let's face it, they're not the ones with the best lives. Also like how you're elves have shaved heads.

artastrophe In reply to Akili-chan [2013-06-11 11:16:38 +0000 UTC]

thanks! I actually didn't realize both the elves had shaved heads til after I did it, hahaha.... Miragray has a shaved head because she's a Tranquil and she works in the potions laboratory, and her hair would just get in the way.

And Nehren actually was supposed to have longer hair [link] , but when I made him in the character creator, I hated all the hairstyles except that one on him, hehe.

But yeah, they definitely aren't very happy. ;__;

aww but she is so determined to be the opposite, hehe-- she blames everyone else to avoid facing her own culpability.

I'm curious; what was her upbringing like? Has anything massive happened that has influenced her general attitude? Is it due to her life as a mage? Or is she just naturally like that?

artastrophe In reply to plowiee [2013-06-11 16:24:45 +0000 UTC]

yeahhh I made sure to give her a suitably tumultuous background, lol; although she did have a bit of a chip on her shoulder even before the templars.

Okay, for some reason (OH RIGHT BECAUSE I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS STORY/CHARACTER) I put this together [link] haha... so it's more like some random scenes/snippets (I have so many laying around >_>) versus an infodump in case you want specifics. I am totally fine if you want to drop it though; I definitely understand that I am probably the only one that finds her so fascinating... but you said you were curious, so I can't help myself. x3

Nah, I was looking for an infodump (or a link to somewhere with one) so I could spend my time reading it instead of doing things that matter :L

I must say that I absolutely adore the color pallets you use for you characters! They're so unique! Blond hair AND brown eyes? Check. (AAAAA, I adore Lithy's face so much!) Brown hair AND blue eyes? Double check!

Honestly, I dunno how do you manage to flesh out *5* OCs for one game... I've only one and she's giving me headache when writing her character sheet.

thank you!! and no wonder Alaja is giving you a headache, with THAT GIANT MASSIVE CHARACTER SHEET you are working on, whew!! I don't think I could do that, seriously; I don't have that much patience. And I've been working on these guys off and on in the back of my head for ....well, DA came out in 2008, I think? So at least a few years. ^^

I used to play Origins a bunch, too, but only went through the sequel once... are you getting all warmed up for DA3, then?

Credit where credit is due.

I certainly am, the recent trailer for it hasn't give me enough and I have to wait a year for it!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

artastrophe In reply to Thaeln [2013-06-12 19:38:15 +0000 UTC]

AWW yeah I *just* watched the trailer; it seemed kind of... empty, as far as that goes... so I can understand it not giving you enough. Apparently I enjoy living in the past, though; I am more into Origins than DA2... and more into the Baldur's Gate series by far. So I am curious about DA3 but not to the point it would really affect me, but I do understand that feeling, arggg!! HANG IN THERE. I'm sure they will leak tiny tiny details every now and then to keep you hungry for it.

DAO is a game that has not aged well, in part because of what it's sequel did to the mythos.

This makes me sort of sad. I feel like the only person who liked DA2 at all. Let alone liking it more than DA.

Arcalian In reply to Delanthaenas [2013-07-05 17:49:56 +0000 UTC]

One other guy I know. Jessie something. He liked DA2 more. Mostly because it was more of a just-kill-stuff console game, which was more his speed.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Delanthaenas In reply to Arcalian [2013-07-05 18:43:37 +0000 UTC]

I liked it because it was less of a typical fantasy game. DAO has the pretty standard "save the kingdom from the evil threat" plotline, which I like, but I've seen a hundred times before. I found DA2's plotline of more subtle political turmoils blowing to a head to be vastly more interesting (though I wish it had been a longer game).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Arcalian In reply to Delanthaenas [2013-07-05 21:19:37 +0000 UTC]

DA2's plotline? Of repetitive failure? "Oh, you had to run from your home because of the darkspawn." "Oh, you failed to save your mother." "Oh, you failed to save the Qunari mage." "Oh, you failed to save the Viscount's son." "Oh, you failed to redeem Merrill from her blood magic." "Oh, you failed to stop Anders, Meredith and Orsino from plunging the entire known world into a mage-vs-templar holy war." Um, yeah, you can keep that, thanks. I don't see any merit in it at all.

And DAO had plenty of political turmoil.

Delanthaenas In reply to Arcalian [2013-07-06 01:18:00 +0000 UTC]

Don't forget "you failed to save your sister/brother (depending on your class), then failed to save the other from getting made a Templar/Warden or imprisoned in the circle. It is a plotline of failure, which I think is one of the reasons I like it. It's so atypical of fantasy. The one thing I have issue with is that it FEELS like a prelude, like everything has been building, then it just ends. DA3 had better be spectacular, because I have some high expectations for that holy war.

DAO had political turmoil, but nothing like the implications of plunging the world into a holy war. My biggest political problem in that game was "boo hoo, the guy who I was gonnna marry killed my dad, now I don't want to marry him." Everything else is just buildup that doesn't get resolved. The elves have problems, the dwarves have problems, and the mages have problems. You fix some of their problems so they'll help you and the deeper problems are left untouched. In DA2, some of these problems come to a boil and explode into intercontinental war, which to me is much more fascinating than "oh look, demons, I mean, darkspawn are gonna destroy the country. Better stop that."

Arcalian In reply to Delanthaenas [2013-07-06 02:54:28 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, see I never understand how taking the fantasy out of a fantasy game and making it dull, dreary and realistic is something to admire or want. I kind of think, call me old fashioned here, that the real world has all the tragedy and despair any of us will ever need, and that the whole *point* of fantasy is to be triumphant and unrealistic. Thus, I will never be into Game of Thrones, for example.

I won't get DA3, but that isn't really because of DA2 or even ME3. It's because I refuse to submit to Origin.

Yeah...I really wish Bioware would dump EA. At this point EA is sort of like Bioware's abusive boyfriend. I don't know if you ever played SWTOR, but what they did to that game after it went F2P was just gutwrenching.
