Yo I have no idea if you ever plan on finishing this or if you care whether or not this piece is old but I have some advice!
The piece looks good so far, but the reason it could be missing something is because there isn't really a light source evident, and it's missing a certain way of shading that's usually used when the light source is from behind. Well, that's sort of the thing that sticks out for me. Blehh I don't really know how to explain so
You're using pretty much a standard way of lighting and shading, which makes the picture (and the subjects) pop out to some level, but like I've mentioned, there's no actual light source that we can observe or infer! A lack of it makes the picture lose depth in something with a background like this. Also, it makes the picture feel a bit flat without it.
Where I'd assume the light source to be would have light on one side and cast a shadow on the opposite side, giving a better sense of depth.
Again, I'm not the best at explaining, so I made something a bit quick to kinda point out what I mean! Here's one without an indicated light source, and here's one with it.
