A simple being reading books to study the world around him, rather than looking at the depressing world. He chooses to delve deep into books about earth itself.. (Atleast thats what this picture tells me..)

Really like this. It's a great illustration of urbanization like we see in today's cities, but with that futuristic setting there's such a vastness of scale that it adds between development & poverty/simplicity. I don't know if that's what you were going for, but for me it's really deep.

I love how despite the sheer size and majesty of this complex, it's all literally just one massive slum and there, sitting in the artificial light of "industry's" pride, sits a lone old man, bound by cane and aging foot in an impossibly new and modern world. What role did he play before this picture? Was he a father? A builder? And what of the lights throughout the rest of this place? What story lies in their glow? Will stories ever cease?

this paintings really drew me in, the background, then the edges of the old temples and onto the sitter, I like the washed out colouring too.
