yes some powerful force was at work here, it almost looks like a giant piled up sheets of granite side by side then pushed them over like a giant game of domino'sΒ haha

An interesting idea.. but these strata are normally laid down horizontally (volcanic lava flow) and then earthquakes or further volcanic activity buckles the "land" and pushes (heaves) them upwards.... Although I have not seen such dramatic "heave" very often..
