Life throws some "curved balls" from time to time... but being able to bounce back (no matter how long it takes) is vital...
Always trying to see the glass at least half full - and always appreciate good friends!!

btw ... re the glass if it's red wine (what I especially love) you perhaps know that the real connaisseur (French one) never pours more than about half the height ... 
Until now, I did not connected it this basic approach at things in life ...

And as a fellow red wine "lover" I can tell you it comes from their "belief" that the wine needs to be "breathing" so that you smell the "trapped" aromas in the top half of the glass as you drink the liquid from the bottom half - thereby involving both taste and smell, which are strongly interlinked and support each other..

nice description of a quite tiny part of all "maniera" developed around the wine industry/consumption by the French disguised marketing culture.
Personally, I am an adept of this a bit old-fashioned culture and one of the very few things I am not "saving expenses" is the (red) wine.
Hope to get the chance to enjoy together one day a good meal with adequate wine
