I really hope Dreamworks doesn't go down that rout of killing her off. But I also think the possibility is extremely low. Keith's arc is finding his past, and by extension his family. He found his mother, and there is bound to be some form of interaction between them. Its for certain Keith is going to be upset, and mad at her for leaving him and his dad. Im sure she has her reasons, and she most certainly regrets leaving. But killing her off, would be really bad for the narrative, because I wholly believe she is the catalyst that pushes Keith to realizing he's always had a family with Shiro and the rest of the team. And someone else brought this one idea to the table, that Keith and Krolia are parallels of each other. Keith left the team to join the blade b/c he felt he would be more useful with BOM. We can predict that this was Krolias reason for leaving Keith when he was younger. She was fully aware that there was still a war going on, and that the empire was closing in on earth. She she made a choice, to leave her son for his ensured safety by being more useful to the cause of ending the war. She left to protect him. Its through this, that Keith will realize, he did what his mother did, left to protect the ones he loved. I don't think he's fully aware of how the team is doing since he left, because they are not faring well with how Shiro is acting, but I think this will come to his attention soon.
But bottom line, history repeats itself. Keith was willing to sacrifice himself for what hes convinced himself was for the mission, but deep down, he was willing to do that to save the team. I think Keith will be in danger in feature seasons, and Krolia will sacrifice herself to save him. (But I don't think she'll die, ity might come close but she will live. If she were to die, then Keiths entire arc about family will be null in void, and everything that has been established will be for nothing.)
But I will not be happy if she does die. TmT Like. Keiths suffered enough, he doesn't need the death of his mother weighing down on him, that's too much.

I really do hope we get some flashbacks of Krolia and Keith playing together in the sixth season.
And from seeing Krolia, we now have confirmed one thing...Keith didn't inherit the Galra height gene.
