Description
The brighness of the room changes as the illuminating number flicker. Her wet eyes adjust to the light, the wetness in them causing everything to just be a blur. Her legs are hugged into her chest, the tops drizzled with tonight's tears. The room is quiet besides the cat purring at the foot of her bed and the slow roar of the funance behind her wall. The cellar has been her room for nearly a lifetime, so much has happened. Love, hate, hurt, pleasure. The room is filled with memories she still wishes were repressed, but for now, her mind is elsewhere.
She's scanning her memories of the past few months, of her happiness, of the pain. She wishes that it would just cease, she wants the pain to go away, wants her happiness to come back. The light shifts again, she looks through the tears to read the clock, it's blinking 2:14.
She starts to process her thoughts again, nothing has come from her in weeks. Only silent sobs and the occasional whisper to answer her teachers. She looks over to her pad of paper, it's filled with sketches and poems. Some of the need to burst out of her shell, some of how she misses the one she loves. Some she wouldn't even let her best friend read, if she had one that is.
She lost all her friends when she went silent, it's almost as if she isn't there anymore, almost like she's dead. No life, no sound, no gleaming smile. She's just silent.
The light flickers again and her legs slide into her blankets as she falls onto her back, gripping the sheets. Her heart is aching, but she hold back the new set of tears. Living mintute to minute never felt so long, she'd been living from day to day and it went faster than this. Counting down the days to be with someone she wanted so bad. Those dreams still haunted her now, She wants to scream, every molecule of her body wants some kind of relief, some kind of release would be exponentially better than this.
A force pushes through her, tears, they start to flow as if they were involuntary. Just something else that she needs to deal with. All she needed was one idle thought, the loss of control for one moment and she's truly lost it.
The room swirls around, only the light staying still, the numbers blink 2:17. A lifetime had seemed to pass, yet it was only a mere three minutes. Life was so cruel. Her body rolls over, her face pressed into the pillows. Great, another object poisoned by the tears. A sigh escapes from her lips, the sun still isn't up. The silent night is still alive and kicking, unlike her.
The next day won't be any better, she takes up the thought, at least it's not of her right? The vague thought proceeds;
Get up, dress, walk, sit, sleep. Go to class, sit, pay attention.. sleep. Art class, create, express. Damn bell. Take notes, sleep. Lunch time..
Oh yes, the cafeteria would be filled as usual. Very enclosed, voices loud as students try to find friends. The cliques at their designated spots. It's her job to catch the table though, the one table that they always sit at is the slider table, for some reason her friends didn't have their own designated table. She sits at the table, the people from the lunch before still at their seats, a few glares and they leave. She would have scared them off with a smile, but she doesn't do that anymore because of the lost love. The involuntary tears begin to fall again but behind her bangs, she's safe for now. After lunch, she'll just slip out and leave.
Her mind is drifting to what she would do at home, probably what she's doing right now with a hint of blurry acts of selfishness. The tylenol is hidden by her bed, the alcohol in the rafters. They would help her get through this. She breathes in a sob, silent and clean. The tears flow, her phone hasn't rung for days. It sits on her pillow where it used to always be. The exact spot where the voice of comfort would sound, the voice of security. Her sanity no longer calls. She's made to many mistakes for the phone to call out for her.
The room goes silent, she's fallen asleep between silent sobs, between each self-hating tear.
The light changes it's hue, it's shining a bright three o'clock. A few moments pass and a slight mumble sounds from her throat. Possibly the first sounds in a week, she's talking in her sleep.
"Where are you... I need you.. please come back..." She's sobbing again, unconsciously, involuntarly.
She needs the love, needs what she craves, what she loathes.
She sleeps.
