Exalted is a fun game, it plays off the consequences of your actions far more than your capacity. The game tries to emulate action and drama akin to those of grand heroes and legends, people that step up to the challenge and transcend the limits of humanity. Herakles, Perseus, Da Vinci, Hassan-i Sabbah, Sherlock Holmes, Alexander the great...you get the idea!
The Exalted are people gifted by the gods with power to realize their greatness/virtue/what-have-you, though they are not beholden to these gods. They are mighty, and theirs is the mandate to rule the world. Yet, they are not perfect. No power in the world will tell you what is wise. And people with such inflamed passions and the greatest of wills...they fall as greatly as they rise.
Those are, indeed, very powerful people, in a fantastic world of humans, monsters, magic and wonder. One of the most popular catchphrases of the game is "What legends will they tell about your deeds?"
