Thank you very much!

Sue is one of my favorite Marvel characters and she's supposed to be one of the most beautiful and classy ladies in the MU, so I tried to do that reputation justice.

The commissioner asked me to design my own FF costume for her, so I really went to town on this piece. He was very pleased, and it's one of my favorite commissions in my own portfolio.

I've been applying to them for work on and off for over fifteen years, Sarah- no joke. You really need to 'know' someone there, apparently.

Being I live so close to NYC, I'd been up to Marvel's offices a dozen times, always to no avail.

But I think I'm trying a new approach this time...

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence, Sarah!

Sometimes I wonder if I should try to rally the people on Scoundrel and deviantArt to inundate Marvel and DC with e-mails if they want to see me on their favorite Marvel/DC covers... Hmmm... That's much better than you getting violent with them! LOL!

This time around, I'm creating new samples all the time with all the Marvel commissions I'm doing.

LOL!

Really? If you could give me his dA page, that would be great! Any connection I can make, all the better. I've been wanting to break into Marvel for soooo long...

Thanks, Sarah. Hey, don't knock yourself- just keep drawing!

I love NYC- I realize I take it for granted sometimes because I live so close. But when I first met my wife, she was living in the city, so I was there every weekend!

Pretty nice - but hey - I can see her!!

artguyNJ In reply to robokop [2009-09-05 19:06:56 +0000 UTC]

LOL! I was trying to decide whether or not to make her hips transparent with some airbrush work, but I liked the way the figure came out too much to mess around with it further!

It's a little tough using markers to create transparency. It's a lot easier for me to do with acrylic paint/airbrush.

Maybe somebody will commission me to do an Invisible Woman painting...

Psst - just show an empty "paper" and say that she is there.
I know I know - just kidding!

Already played that trick when I did sketch cards for the March of Dimes. I did a block of five cards, so when I sent one big scan to show them, there was a blank spot where a sixth card could go, so I signed it and labeled it as the Invisible Woman. They thought it was funny.
