Description Situated in Central Africa, Cameroon is one of the most important satellite states of Madagascar for two main reasons: the discovery of important oil reserves which could  strengthen the Malagasy Sphere, and the fact that this tropical country is at the intersection of five important colonial empires and is threatened by their appetite. Despite these inconvenients, Cameroon is on the path to quick industrialization thanks to Malagasy cooperation and the affirmation of Panafricanism there.

POLITICS - Aiming for a federation
Cameroon is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world. One of the main fears of Ranavalona 3rd was that these ethnics were about to fight each other, giving Europeans a reason to invade these territories. As a first decree, the Republic of Cameroon, in cooperation with Madagascar, decided to create "federal ethnic subjects" in order to deal with diverse populations, giving ethnics some autonomy while being ruled by a representative government. By 1922, Cameroon became peaceful, since all ethnics of the country signed a Treaty of Recognition of Federal Ethnic Subjects and since its independence, the country is willing to expand its model to its neighbors or to apply it to new immigrants.

GEOGRAPHY - The country of the General Forest
Malagasy people were astonished about the density of forests in this territory, quite more important than in the homeland. Cameroon cultivated a deep respect towards nature and environment, by protecting the large forests of the Congo basin. Despite this dense nature, Cameroonese chose to live in these areas, providing all vital resources. Also, in order to stop the advance of desert in the north, the government created a "green wall" as a protection against desertification, in order to preserve national integrity.

POPULATION - Cameroon, a little Africa
For Madagascar, Cameroon is representing the whole Africa, due to the diverse population living in there. Plus, the country is hosting new immigrants from European colonies, searching protection from forced labour and better conditions for their families in Cameroon. At first, the country organized a policy of hosting literate people until 1920, but then, the mandate decided to host thousands of people from the European colonies, in order to have a much more important population and to become a regional power.

ECONOMY - An African Emirate
Before 1920, Cameroon's economy was only agricultural. Even though Madagascar wanted to use Cameroon's agricultural potential for the country's dynamism, Malagasy searchers founded oil in the Guinean Gulf, in the West of Cameroon, turning this country into the "gas station of Africa". By 1926, the country became the 6th world producer of oil and assured oil supply to Madagascar and its satellites. This oil boom is about to help Cameroon to become the most powerful country of Equatorial Africa.
But as an insurance, Cameroon's economy is also based on mining extraction and gold sale, strengthening local economy.

INTERNATIONAL - A growing appetite for this country
Surrounded by five European powers, Cameroon was the aim of Western companies, especially for oil extraction. Despite asking for more rights of exploitation, Madagascar and Cameroon limited European activities on national oil, in order to give fairness to the local government.
At some points, some skirmishes happened to the national borders, frightening the country as an assaulted country. But thankfully, the country signed a Treaty of Cooperation with Madagascar in 1925 which assured military protection from Madagascar to Cameroon.
