Description

1935 is the year of the big turn in World History. As the nations of the world crossed the difficult path of the 1929 Crisis, here are the recent news of the first half of the 1930's:

Africa
Since the Krach, Madagascar and its satellites managed to overcome the economic crisis and created a strong economic block with each other, developing the Independent nations of Africa. With the creation of the Union of African Nations, almost all African countries are choosing the cooperation with each other, in order to resist European imperialism. With Madagascar and its satellites, two more countries want to join the movement: Liberia and Abyssinia. By accessing to the UAN, they are assured to gain support in case of attack, especially Abyssinia which is threatened by Mussolini's Italy. On the other side, Egypt and South Africa chose a different path: Egypt, at first favourable to a Malagasy alliance, changed its mind to get closer to Italy, choosing a more fascist way, in order to get rid of British influence; same goes for South Africa, where James Hertzog finally drifted in the fascist path in order to get closer to Germany, despite UK's reluctancy.

Americas
Franklin Roosevelt, elected in 1932, launched a series of reforms in order to strengthen American economy. The democrat president insisted on its neutrality towards Europe, which is on the brink of war. Meanwhile, he still controls indirectly all other American countries' economy, tolerating dictatorships with fascist influences who are lenient to be aligned on USA's demands. However, Haiti is an exception, being closer to Madagascar's UAN.

Europe
In Europe, the crisis deepened the extremes: democracies like France and United Kingdom must face the rise of Hitler in Germany, and Mussolini in Italy. Both dictators instaured terror and strengthened their economy through reforms and militarization, in spite of the Versailles Treaty. Spain, who adopted a socialist-like regime, is on the verge of the war with the fascists of Franco. Germany is about to host Olympic Games, in order to prove its superiority to the world, and isn't hiding its territorial appetites. Eastern countries are also about to fall in the German trap, and Soviet Union is enforcing its rule on the largest territory of the world, through purges and deportations. With democracies, fascist countries and communist rule clashing with each over, war is quite inevitable.

Asia
Japan decided to give autonomy to its colonies, thus gaining international allies in their opposition to West. The Empire showed extreme resilience against crisis and avoided the military rule: its ambitions are to trade with countries and wake their nationalist inner voice, in order to initiate an "Asia for Asians". But Japan needs to face its giant neighbor, China, who fell into fascism after the Western humiliation and the crisis put the country on its knees. With Tchang Kai Chek signing a pact with Hitler and Mussolini, a new alliance is gradually forming between far-right countries.
