This makes me want to take off somewhere and just explore.
I really like the realistic horizon haze, water and all the details you put into this. I have played around with Bryce, but am very impressed with Vue now!

He's alone because being a king (or any other kind of leader) is a very lonely position, even when you are surrounded by other people.
Another reason why he's alone... is that I also like being alone.

Uma nota: para imagens nocturnas, ajuda usar uma luz azulada para dar uma maior impressão de noite.

Ooohy, your beach looks so real. I like how you can really see that the ocean floor is gradualy going down, and then coming up again around the islands. The plants framing the image are also something I like very much in this render. The rockislands are really nice. I love the vegetation on the rocks.

That effect you mention of the ocean floor was the thing that took more time to get just right in this image.

Sometimes the modern world gives me the shits so much that I question whether maybe people who live in a place like this might be genuinly happier 
I gotta be an astro-nerd and say you'll never see a full moon this early in the afternoon especially if it's well and truely in the sky already (you did mention this was old though so you probably realised that by now anyway) actually a phase similar to how it is in the sunset version would be more accurate as the sunlight is coming from the left
Softer shadows would have looked a bit nicer too. But I love how calm the water looks and the careful framing of plants around the edge, the island-rocks are shaped nicely too. In fact, there looks like there's a vague almost skull-like face in the closer one near the top with the way the shadows are casting on it

Yes, you're absolutely right about the usage of soft light. I would have used it if it were now but at the time I didn't think about it.
I know about the full moon not being realistic in this light but I'm never after realism in my renders. If I achieve realism, that's a subproduct of my search for beauty, which is my real quest. I really think realism is overrated in what regards art. Realism is not necessary to produce art. My opinion, anyway.

I prefer stylised art too, especially if its fantasy or sci-fi...I just thought you were going for realism here
