Description

So a fan asked if I'd consider making a map for the world of my America Empire map. So I decided to make a map set during this world's 1960s. Without further ado:

In this world following the American Revolution, George Washington was able to convince the newly formed nation to declares him emperor. Despite being called an empire the nation is a constitutional monarchy. Emperors are elected by the people and serve a lifetime term, but Congress still wields a considerable amount of power. Think a bit like the Republic of Venice and you wouldn't be too far off. Canada sided with the American rebels, due to series of mishandling a by the British, and the British soon colonized Argentina and Uruguay to help reestablish their empire.

The 1848 resolution for German Unification was mor successful. Specifically, the proposal for the Empire of 70 Million proved much more successful than in our world. As a result the German Empire is just as much Austro-Hungarian as it is German. Meanwhile, the Russian Empire was able to establish fat greater democratic reforms than it did in our world and has become an representative monarchal constitutional...thing, stretching from Constantinople to Beijing.

There were various things that happened over the years, but that segment of history we're going to focus on begins in the early 20th century. Much as in our world the major powers found themselves engaged in a great world war. Unlike our world, however, the war dragged on for twenty long years. Essentially, it was World War I leading directly into World War II with no break in-between. When the dust settled the German and Russian empires emerged as the victors while Britain and France found themselves on the losing side. The American Empire had largely stayed out of the war and hadn't suffered any great losses.

Following the war Britain and France were forced to pay crushing reservations to Germany and Russia. This completely destroyed the British and French economies and lead to runaway hyperinflation. It wasn't long before radical communist movements began to gain traction in Britain and France. Soon enough the communist had gained control of the British and French homelands. The British royal family and their government fled to Argentina while the French government relocated to Algeria. The British and French colonies formed governments-in-exile to oppose the communist regimes in their motherlands.

The People's Republic of France and the Democratic People's Commonwealth of Britain dedicated themselves to spreading communism in order to bring about a global revolution. Within a few years most of Western Europe had fallen to communism. It wasn't long before the PRF and DPCB set their sights on getting revenge against Germany and Russia.

Brazil had long since been granted dominion status by Portugal. Following the conquest of Portugal by French forces, the Portuguese royal family fled to Brazil. Portugal's African colonies were placed under Brazilian rule for the duration of the war. Meanwhile, an international group of entrepreneurs attempted to create a settlement on Madagascar. The settlement, which eventually encompassed all of Madagascar, was named the Republic of Prometheus. Prometheus was organized around what we would refer to as Objectivist principals. The nation was treated as a business, with each of the citizens owning a share in the company stock. Unfortunately, running an entire nation on pure capitalism prove unsustainable, and by the war's end the fledgling nation collapsed into chaos.

While France and Britain were in the thralls of communist revolution, the former Ottoman Empire was reforming itself into the Unified Islamic Republic. The UIR sees itself as the successor to the Ottoman Empire as well as the voice of Muslims throughout the world. Overall it's fairly liberalized and is slowly but surely moving towards secularism. Meanwhile, Japan was steadily building up an empire in the Pacific. Japan's empire building was going all well and good, but then they started poking around America's Pacific possessions. After that it wasn't long before America became involved not only against Japan, but against the communist in Europe, thought the Japanese were never particularly close to the communists.

Technological advanced allowed for a freighting new possibility for war: space warfare. Fighter pilots battled high above the atmosphere, satellites armed with bombs could bring death from above and the race was on to claim the Moon as a new battlefield. Fortunately, there wasn't too much damage because of the space battles.

Eventually, after twenty long and grueling years, the war came to an end. The communist were defeat and the British and French reclaimed their homelands. The world also recognized the American Empire as a rising superpower and a force to be reconned with. An era of rebuilding began, new frontiers of space had opened and the world continued to spin on.
