In a hot spring's caress, I unwindbubbles popping against my spine
crickets sing harmonies to the inky night
echoing back in the soft starlight
I trace constellations with my toe
the water mimics the moon's silver glow
bathing the world in mystic delight
summer’s end, in a single night
how curious, these twinkling friends of sky
who've watched the seasons passing by
they’ve seen me laugh, they've seen me pout
witnessed my certainties... and my doubt
a gentle wind now stirs the trees
their leaves whispering of autumn's breeze
summer's warmth begins to wane
yet, in this moment, I remain
petulant, I cross my arms
basking in this spring's warm charms
autumn can come, as it must do
but the stars and I will have our due
bittersweet, this silent discourse
summer’s end brings a subtle remorse
yet, beneath the stars, everything feels right
in this hot spring bath, under summer’s last light
tomorrow, the leaves will begin their fall
but tonight, it's summer's final ball
in this water, warm and bright
I bid farewell, summer's last night
