Black, gay, and deaf, 31 year old Tony Hughes was about to go out in the real world to make a living out of himself, to become a model. His mother was a little worried about this, but after some convincing, she was ok with it.

Since Tony was deaf, he couldn’t talk, making it difficult to find jobs or even to get people’s attention. What made this even worse was the fact that he was living in Milwaukee, a place in America that wasn’t too great for the minority population, especially those who were homosexual. Many of these minority groups (especially the homosexuals) lived in low income areas, resulting in lots of crime and little if not any police activity.

But after hours of searching, he finally found a modeling job. The photographer for the modeling company was gay, giving Tony some hope…or at least he thought. Unlike many gay men, Tony wanted someone who he can bond with, who he can talk to. The photographer was only interested in having sex so that didn’t work out. It wasn’t until Tony went to a gay bar near Milwaukee where he would meet Jeffery Dahmer, one of America’s deadliest and most well know homosexual serial killers.

At first, he thought this romantic relationship would end up working between Dahmer. But when he went over to his place and started playing this weird board game he made as a kid, things started to get weird. Jeffery kept saying stuff that only Satanists would say. The guy was a little weirded out, but still kept going, even sleeping with him that night. It wouldn’t be until the next day where, after leaving to go to work, where he would be beaten to death by Dahmer. Of course, Dahmer kept his body, even feeling kinda bad for killing him. But at the end of the day, he was a mental guy who should have received serious help after the kidnapping and molestation of 13 year old Somsack Sinthasomphone.

Why do I think this is an American tragedy, because this was a man who had a dream. His dream was to get out of Milwaukee and become a famous model. He was not booking up with all of these men just to have sex with, he was hooking up with all of these men because he wanted someone to have an emotional attachment to. The near death of Jeffery’s last victim Tracy Edwards was also pretty tragic and the avoidable death responsible by the Milwaukee cops of Konerak Sinthasomphone was disgusting.
