Description One of the opening pages to my experimental graphic novel of the above title, the story was intended to provide a window into the history of Victor Hugo's antagonist from the original novel, Claude Frollo.
With this villain serving as the narrator, I attemtped to portray his distortion of memories of life before the 'Hunchback' story, and what it was that drove him into the insane obsession that became his downfall.

The inspiration was taken more from the original story than the Disney version, which characterises him in a rather more tragic, sympathetic light, even despite the evil deeds he is led to carry out.

I took a trip to Paris and the cathedral itself in order to obtain more inspiration for this project, and because I much prefer to have my own photographs to manipulate and re-work.
