Description A digital painting in memory of one of my grandfathers guard dogs. This is Zak, he had to be put to sleep at the age of 14 due to the loss of use in his back legs. I miss this ol' guy

Art (c) Maz Bourne.

EDIT: Done in photoshop 7.0 and CS2 9.0

I'm sure, it's gorgeous and a truely wonderful digital painting. Your traditional skills really shine through. Have you considered buying a pack of Prismacolor pencils and working on black paper? You can acheive somewhat the same effect.

hmm I might give that a go actually... I'd need to get more pencils and some black paper though lol. (what are prismas like to use? I used to use karismas till i lost half of the colours)

Well, you know cheapy Crayolas, right? Crayolas are too hard to work with because they don't blend properly and the 'lead' is too tough. Primas are 10 times softer; they're just short of oil pastels they're so soft. This makes them ultra fine for blending with as you can layer color over color, the 'lead' lays itself on so thick you can get a relatively pure color (compared to Crayolas) even after laying down several layers of color. But mostly it's their blend-ability that makes them so great.

And My puppy was given away by mother X.x Long sotry. But I hope the other doggies are doing Fine, And awesome job with this peice. The colar was done nicely, and the expression means everything. It really tells the peice.

Maybe over the easter holidays you can go and visit the dogs? No harm in that

ArtistMaz In reply to Black-Ravyn [2006-04-03 13:30:49 +0000 UTC]

true... I'll have to find out what times the dogs are patrolling the yard or when the gates open... Tho I'm weary of the big black fuzzy ex police dog... You gotta be careful rounf him coz he's a lil unpredictable...

Black-Ravyn In reply to ArtistMaz [2006-04-03 13:31:54 +0000 UTC]

An unpredictable guard dog? And why is this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtistMaz In reply to Black-Ravyn [2006-04-03 13:36:36 +0000 UTC]

He was thrown out of the police force because of it... He's fine with men, but he can be a lil wierd towards females, in the sense of he can snap for no reason... But it's not that often he does... I usually hide behind Zak's son Rocky XD
