Well, this came about after learning about the Nightmarity story arc in the MLP comics.
Here is Rarity being overtaken by the forces that had previously corrupted Luna, slowly transforming her into Nightmare Rarity.
Edit: I've read the comics. Pretty good despite that they were quite short and felt a bit rushed. The artwork was awesome too.

You know, when you think about it hard enough, you'll realize that this "Nightmare Force" thing is actually similar to the Symbiotes from the Spider-Man franchise, only instead of being a slime like life form, it's a smoke like one, over 1000 years ago the Nightmare Force took advantage of Luna's jealousy of her older sister to bond with her to become Nightmare Moon, after Nightmare Moon was defeated by the Elements of Harmony, the Nightmare Force escaped to the dark side of the moon, where it possessed nearly all of the inhabitants of the moon, turning them all into dark cloud like monsters, then while under the influence of the Nightmare Force they kidnapped Rarity, so the Nightmare Force could take advantage of Rarity's insecurity & fear of being forgotten to bond with her & become Nightmare Rarity, to continue what Nightmare Moon had started in the first place.

Nice job! You should read the comic, its a very good arc, and there's a definite focus on corruption (and eventual redemption) Worth a read!
