Made for an idea of mine w/ the premise being a bunch of fictional characters from a in-universe fictional fantasy show (think a bizarro mix of Lord of the Rings, Merlin, the first Star Wars films, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Power Rangers) are brought into reality via a Samhain ritual on Halloween night and run amok. Mistaking a fan in a screen accurate costume of the show's heroine as the real deal.

Story:

It’s Halloween and our main character, (I’ll be using the name “Sam” for now, unless I decide otherwise later) is out now dressed as the heroine, Lady Zortho, from the fictional fantasy show. He meets a few other “fans” dressed as other characters and creatures from the show. By this point a ritual has happened and the TV show’s villainess, Ozera, is now out in the real world. Said ritual was performed by a 30-something. Who is also the son of a woman who’s held yearly Halloween parties at their house for many years now. Said party being where Sam was heading when they bumped into the TV characters made real. Having been sent by Ozera who had spotted Sam from the window from a few blocks away. This is where a intense game of ‘Mafia’ comes into play. As for the actual “how?”, well, the 30-something is a “m’lady” anime body pillow type of dude who is also a fan of the show; w/ more interest concerning the TV show’s sexy villainess. Using some black magic ritual on Halloween as the walls of worlds are thinner during Samhain and thus brings her to reality. She has no interest (obviously) and sets her sights on eliminating her arch enemy (aka the Sam currently dressed as said enemy, Zortho). Bringing forth her various minions and other creatures to reality also as the doorway between realities wasn’t closed. Bit of a crude joke I thought of. As the dude sticks to remaining in their upstairs room while the party goes on, usually watching his “programs of choice”. During these parties occasionally when one goes to find the bathroom upstairs they’ll go opening up the wrong doors. One being theirs at once at an unfortunate moment. His mother always reminds them to lock their door during such times to avoid a repeat of an incident from the previous year when they opened the door. When Sam is brought to the room he first thinks they’re all in a group costume, but is nearly shot at w/ an arrow by one of the dark elves and several more are fired. The remaining arrows are blocked by the now shut door and Sam goes running out the house. The 30-something’s ma seeing them running yell up the stairway that she told them to remember to lock their door.

Joining up w/ Sam is a few of his own friends, a total of 5, who are all dressed up for the night. Their personalities act as a sort of parallel to the fantasy party that go on quests. E.g. one who is dressed up as a ghoulish guitarist, or the ZomStar as they go by. Them being the bard type. Another as the Frankenstein Monster acting as the Barbarian type and so on and so forth.

Minor subplot is some poor schmuck w/ their job on the line is left in charge of the Halloween festivities and dress up town square for the season and put on a fireworks show and other. It’s not going well for them. Shenanigans of the main plot keep setting them back. When Azeroth later also makes the jump to reality and engages in a fight w/ Ozera (who midway turns into a large beast), the spectators think it’s a show. Soon enough by the end when the firework show was occurring, their budget left them w/ a wimpy set of them. However at the same time, the defeat of the villainess and her servants/minions results in a much more spectacular show. With such a positive reception to everything, he is given the duty of Halloween celebration for next year, much to their great dismay. Fainting from the news.

One extra idea to add: As the fantasy creatures and other march through the streets w/ folks moving outta the way the unknowing towns folk just thinks it’s just a parade or sorts. Adding into the minor subplot I talked of earlier. With said baddie thinking the people are accepting them as their overlord now and pledging servitude.
