Description I decided to upload some pencil work, since most of my pieces ever actually get past that stage, and so by missing them out, I'm missing out a lot of my best work (I think). I'm actually in the process of colouring quite a few of the pics, but as I'm the worlds slowest colourist when it comes to doing stuff for myself, I have no idea when any of the final coloured versions will be ready to show.

This pic (which was previously in my scraps, when I wasn't posting pencil work as full deviations) was a commission for a mate. It was intended as the cover to a fanfic sourcebook he put together for the SLA iIndustries RPG (that's an old-fashioned pen & paper RPG, like ). This took me a while to draw, but I was pretty happy with the final result.

Looks great - especially as a cover

So...speaking as a SLA-Fan....about this sourcebook....

Any chance I can get my hands on it? The cover looks kind of ...inviting.

Actually, I don't know what happened with the Human sourcebook. Hold on, I'll see if I can find it ... no, I'll have to ask John & Sue if it can still be found online anywhere. I'll get back to you if I have any success.

Actually, if you're the same JackDarke from the forum (I'm scribblah on there, if you hadn't figured), there's probably a link to any stuff of John's that's still online (Johnny Auto) floating about in the threads somewhere. I had a quick look, but don't have time at the moment for a long search (I'm crap at forums!). Or failing that, post a request in the SLA section and someone else will likely post you a link. JD's stuff's all pretty good, but I'm not 100% sure if he totally finished the human sourcebook. I was kinda out of touch with the SLA scene for a coupla years, so I missed some stuff. Mind you, it's not like John not to finish anything, so it'll probably be about.

If ... you're not that JackDarke (which would be a helluva conincidence!) ... bear with me. I'll still try to find out.

Some of the facial work and anatomy looks distorted in areas, but I like the concept.

yeah, I know - it's riddled with flaws, and if I had the patience I'd probably draw the whole thing again from scratch. But this is a direct scan if the original drawing, so to redo it would mean redrawing the whole thing (ie - I just drew this as you see it right onto paper - I didn't do separate drawings & then composite them on a page), and I really don't have the motivation to do that just now. I've started work on colouring this tho, so hopefully the colours will help to hide some of the more obvious squiffy bits.

thanks much for the crit!

No, I figured you did it all on paper - I'm doing something similar right now, albeit a lot simpler. When I crit, I don't expect people to do what I wouldn't do myself. I wouldn't rework an entire image to try and get to a state of perfection. I, instead, would take what I know and try to do better on future pieces.

That's how I improve, anyway.

It's so cool. I like that chick in the middle with a lipstick the most. Really good.
