I remember playing soraka for a trist against a draven/nami lane.  I picked soraka first against nami to be safe.  So Trist jumps in at every given opportunity claiming "just silence the nami and we'll win every time."  Guess how many times we won trades after that?

The silence doesn't last that long. So I'm guessing not very many. So few people understand how supports work, which is upsetting because then they tell you that you suck, when they don't understand simple mechanics about different types of champions.

But yeah, I tend to steer clear of soraka (though I like her a lot) because people seem to constantly overestimate just what I can do at the time.  Regardless though, You just have to do the best that you can.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. Yeah with the new meta changes, she's just not as good as she used to be unfortunately.

Yep, just got a Tristana that was up for promo. Playing Morgana support, and it was one of those guys who didn't seem to grasp the term 'danger' With my whole body and might I tried to keep Udyr off Tristana who didn't even notice him running in our lane. And thinks 'Morgana is holding him, I'm gonna attack even though I have only 5% of my health left.' While I was like "RUN BITCH RUN!"

Or he just pushed even though there were no wards and I wasn't there. And then it was my fault for not being there. I'm pretty sure that means you did wrong to push all the way over there without me, good sir.

Omg lol that was stupid ._. I hate it when adc's push without us on lanes. If I play adc I'm afraid to even farm too far from the turret when my support's back at the base. xD

But yea I was playing Nami support this one time and had kinda nooby Vayne with me. The enemy team had Ashe and Kennen on bot lane. We nearly got Ashe but she managed to escape, and Kenny (who was full ap of course) was still full life and Vayne decided to try and get him. I pinged the chick to get back but nooo lets try killing Kenny. So I help her of course, but with Nami's annoying cooldown I couldn't do much after I used all my qwe spells (early game, I didn't have my ult yet). I got my bubble back after Vayne died so I could still save myself and not give Kennen double kill. First thing Vayne said?
"Omg noob support no help at all."

So I explain them that there's only so much I can do before I get my spells back... -_- And then they told me to gtfo that they'll do solo lane LOL. Friend told me to stick with her on bot lane if I want her to win but meh she was so toxic, anything the team did was wrong, she kept raging and begging team to get her a penta... I just helped all other lanes instead and totally ignored her. ._.

I did still help her in team fights and what not but omg she was so annoying and unskilled, our jungler ended up taking all her kills in the late game xD

Bottom line is, adc needs a support to be successful on their lane. And if they aren't good there isn't much a support can do about it other than go full ap and start taking kills on their own.
