My personal favorite Decepticon of all time. Soundwave always gives off an air of reliable coolness that’s present in basically every incarnation. Couple that with one of the absolute coolest and most flexible designs in the series and you have a perfect character to turn into anything.

This guy started after I attempted to design a Soundwave head that was unique to my style, it was a functional design to I thought I’d build the rest of the character design around that. The design is close to the original, but more flat and boxy, along with having a layered bit with the mid crown thing.

What I did with this guy is mostly base him off the Unicron Trilogy/Galaxy Force design, since that’s one of my favorite designs for the character, with the elements of this he wings, and legs. I also took inspiration from the IDW version when crafting the body, basing it off his appearance in "Optimus Prime" where he transforms into a armored van thing. after that I put in some elements of old Soundwave drawings I did previously, mostly the big midsection with stuff inside it. lastly i added the back missile launcher and cockpit (which is barely visible) just so i don't interrupt the design with stuff on the arms.

Overall, I think what I did with the design was ok. i always like trying to incorporate stuff from a different iteration of characters into the original, so on that front i did ok. I will go back and clean this guy up however because I'm not satisfied yet with how i draw Soundwave, since he's one of my favorite characters in Transformers, a super close second to just one, and i want to give the character the design he deserves.
