Description
Another page of Marvin the Paranoid Android (from Douglas Adams' 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'), as I think He should look. I realize the full-view of this piece is rather large, as is the case unfortunately with a lot of the stuff in my gallery, but if I had made it smaller I don't think you'd be able to read the text. Now, the fat creature chilling under that tree in the upper left is not from HHGG, but the happy and inquisitive Mattress in the lower right IS. He's from book the third, 'Life, the Universe and Everything' in this five-part trillogy.Related content

I love the way he looks! It's not exactly how I imagined him, but it's incredibly inventive and I especially like the waistcoat-style-breastplate-thingy. I really like all of Douglas Adams's books. I especially like making references to them and mentioning "The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul" in conversations just to confuse people XD

I loved Marvin. I cried at the end of the fourth book.

My glee at finding zem fanart is so great i think i just simultaniously imploded and exploded....outwardly nothing happened but my brain suffered greatly. you are my HERO! lol
i love your marvin too, i always pictured him lanky rather than the dumpy round marvin in the film recently. i did like the eyes in the film version, but tall and gangley has so much more miserable potential.

And yeah, I came up with this design from reading the books, I hadn't seen any pictures of the different Marvin designs at the time (I love the TV show!). This is always how I'll see Marvin.

Actually, The hitchikers guide to the galaxy is one of the things that spurred me to start writing poetry. Made one about the matress in third or fifth grade, amongst several other inspired by the books.

My friend who has never read Douglas Adams once saw this sketch and said, "Only you would think of something like a matress asking what a matress was!" I then had to explain, regretfully, that I hadn't come up with the idea myself, but that this was in fact a piece of fanart. Nuts. But it made me realize how strange something like this seems to the uninitiated.
