yeah.I did like it but whats so bad about it? it shows that erik and.christne still love each other after ten years I thought people would like that?

Well okay, I'll tell you my MAIN reasons for disliking it.
Certain people like to see Erik and Christine get together again, it's true. And I just want to say now that I'm no Erik hater! I think he's a fantastic character and of course I feel super sorry for the guy. But remember when there was no LND?
Before the sequel came along, the story of the Phantom had a really good ending. Sad, sure, but the important thing was that Erik learned something. He learned that if he really loved Christine, he couldn't hurt her by keeping her with him, forcing her to marry him, and even killing her childhood best friend (Raoul). When she kissed him he realized that she was willing to give up her freedom to save Raoul, and it made him feel horrible for what he was doing to her, and he let her go. And we all cried. It was beautiful.
Love Never Dies takes all of that, crumples it up and tosses it over its shoulder. Erik's up to his old tricks, trying to lure Christine into a trap because apparently he learned nothing and is back to being a selfish jerk who doesn't care a bit for what Christine may actually want to do with her life.
It also has a bunch of silly story choices, not to mention a bit of impossible math (if Gustave had really been conceived "Ten long years" ago, he would not be "ten years ooooold!" at this point. Someone needs to explain gestation to Erik...)
Having said all that, I do think that Coney Island is a GREAT setting for a creepy-cool musical. Lots of the visuals in the recorded production are really nifty. But the plot is just such an unfortunate mess that it's impossible for me to enjoy the setting properly.

YEAH, for god's sake... D:
LND just... hurts my eyes.
And Erik... a last name!? That makes no sense, since he's named after the priest/monk who baptised him.
Your style is so adorably cute <3

In the book, "The Phantom of Manhattan." It's the story that the musical sequel is based on. It that (horrible) book he's called Erik Muhlheim.

I Agree. Love Never Dies Should NEVER! Have been written. If he wanted to write a new musical about the owner of a 'freak show' and his old flame, why couldn't he have done it WITHOUT making it a Phantom follow on! Sorry, it's a pet hate, and I tend to rant about it...

Word. It should die.
Why didn't they adapt Susan Kay's novel if they had to do something?

Well, cause that wouldn't really have been a sequel. But I agree, it's certainly a better novel.

Nah, his statements were just fine, I'd agree with all of them. I was referring to his mass quantities of perfectly coiffed hair. But don't mind me, I'm just a former Raoul-hater that hasn't quite got around to liking him yet. Leroux's Raoul is a decent guy, which makes this whole deadbeat drunkard thing that much more ridiculous.
