Prince Thaduel is running away from home. Why? Arranged marriage, of course! He figures he'd rather become some sort of forest hermit/warrior than marry a Princess he's never met. How hard can wilderness survival be, anyway? Anyway, he's made sure to bring the essentials with him.

Well, fortunately for him, the royal retainer has tagged along to make sure the Prince doesn't get into anything too dangerous. Within reason, you know.

Thaduel's parents are well aware of their son's little project. Turns out every royal couple goes through a similar phase. Thad'll find out about how deep this goes later on, after his coronation. In the mean time, interested parties on both sides of this marriage are making sure that the Prince and the Princess (who's also run away to take her chances in the forest) will meet and have a suitably exciting adventure together, only to realize in the end that they're betrothed to each other. It's all an elaborate (and secret) friendship-building exercise.
