"...If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for the right to hold you"

A little bit more of the Avatar AU.

I've tarted a series following this short comic of Dilla and Caleb meeting baby Miles/Spider:

This is the first batch of drawings for that ^^

It did not take long for Dilla and Caleb to adopt Miles, they had fallen in love with the tiny baby immediately❤️ They decided to keep the name Miles, to honor the choice of his late birth mother Paz Socorro.

Since the baby was too small for a breathing mask, Caleb and Dilla would at first take turns staying with him at the human facilities. Later Elyon, the head of the facility, arranges for a shack to be placed in the Omatikaya village so Dilla and Caleb can finally take their son home, and care for him there. As Miles grows up, the shack also serves as a resting space where he can take off his breathing mask, eat and sleep more comfortably e.t.c.

When Dilla gives birth to Kai the baby brothers create a bond right away, always snuggling together and crying when separated. Unfortunately at the start they must be separated often since Kai, like all Na'vi and avatars, cannot breathe in human spaces for an unlimited time, and he himself is too little for a mask. It breaks their parents hearts to keep them apart during this first times, but they still make sure they spend as much time as they can together.

Latest Avatar AU chapter, awesomely written by katerinaaqu here:

Avatar W.I.T.C.H Edition - Chapter 21,Chapter 21“Here! Catch!” Dilla called, throwing him a rod.Caleb caught it in mid-air easily. He had practice with those things before as a marine but that seemed like an eternity ago. Besides the marines he had met in the past were nothing to what he was seeing before him; Dilla was casually spinning the rod as if it was part of her arm…“Whoa, Dilla! What’s this all about?”Dilla grinned. She was already moving in a wide circle around him, like a lioness ready to strike him. Caleb had a grin he thought had reached his ears!“In order to face your ikran, you must be ready. You have started developing the sense of a hunter. Now you need to start developing the sense of a warrior…our warrior! I thought you wanted to know our way of fight!”“I thought you’d never ask!” Caleb grinned.Somewhere afar people had gathered from a distance to see what was going on. They did realize that they were about to spar and, as it seemed, they were already putting their votes.Dilla and Caleb were circling around each other; two lions ready to pounce into a territorial battle. The smiles were spread on their lips. All of the sudden there was the explosion. Dilla screamed at the top of her lungs in a scary battle cry that made Caleb take two steps back and she moved her weapon above her head, waving it in a circle move and before Caleb had a moment to blink she charged. She hit once, twice and trice…those was the moves he managed to block (and with each block he was feeling the impact moving down his arm till his toes by her strength!) and then her stick landed on his back. He moaned but had no time. With a sweeping move of Dilla’s long leg under his feet he found himself down the ground. Only when he had truly fallen Dilla did lower her guard and approached him smiling.“You okay?” she asked.“What the hell was that?!” Caleb yelled half-impressed and half-out of breath still, “I barely had time to see!”Dilla chuckled and her cheeks darkened only slightly at that compliment.“You lost focus. Battle cries are meant to confuse the opponent during a fight. Your voice is the most powerful weapon you have; not your spear or your body. Use it well and do not lose…-what’s the word?-…conscious…?”“It’s called ‘concentration’…” Caleb corrected her accepting her hand to stand.“Concentration, yes…” Dilla smiled happily at the word she had learnt, “You need to focus more and do not get carried away by your opponent…but…”Her smile now made Caleb blush.“…But you have great talent, Caleb. You really do.”Caleb blinked in a ‘you gotta be kidding me!’ kind of way.“Are you serious? You downed me with three moves!”“The fact that you count, means you are focused to battle!” Dilla chuckled, “However, I really mean it. You have very strong legs that down on the ground. And your arms are strong… Use them wisely and you will win the battle…”Her compliments sounded so genuine that Caleb actually believed them.“Today you lose with three…next moment might lose with four… The point is to keep going till you have won…”He nodded at her words and Dilla smiled.“Ready to go again?”“Absolutely!”“Excellent. Get ready then…”Cornelia was standing alone at one side of the forest. She had watched a little bit of Caleb’s training but she had left soon after. She wondered how he could do this! His voice the night before was an absolute mess in emotion; it was obvious to her that he was in love with this native woman so how could he now laugh like they were just best buddies who were sparring together? Of course another part of hers was wondering if ‘true love’ could really exist. She had never loved anyone that way. She had focused so much in her training that she had not thought about it. It seemed almost impossible to her and yet…Caleb; the marine who had probably had bedded as many prostitutes existed in Kansas along with a couple of relationships was now over the hills in love with this woman and it was obvious. Her faith in her beliefs was being tested every day! It was not fair! She angrily threw her knife to the root below her and it got stabbed in there. She had been doing this movement for at least an hour now; stabbing and un-stabbing her knife that way. Along with her clothes, Ballard had given her a knife while he was teaching her some of the basic stuff of hunting. It was a bit heavy and uncomfortable but it was better than nothing. Cornelia did the same thing again…and again… She was good at it. Knives, guns and martial arts were her strongest traits as a marine. Ballard… Every time she thought of him her heart skipped beat. She had no idea why but at the same time she felt it was becoming harder and harder to stay away from him. To put it simply; she couldn’t. She was feeling so good every time she was with him! She could sit for hours, listening to his deep voice, sucking in his every word… He could make her feel safe even in this hostile world. He was the father figure she had lost! She was turning into a little girl again before that giant… He had played to her the flute once and she had felt tears in her eyes! His gentle eyes…his gentle personality…everything on him was beautiful and yet he had not touched her, he had not tried anything against her will, he had not pressured her to do anything and he took care of her… She shook her head and angrily threw her knife again and un-stabbed it again. No! She had to hate him! He belonged to a race of people who had killed her father and left his body rot or to be eaten by one of those monsters that resided in the jungle! Cornelia was no optimist. She could not believe that these people who showed so much respect for their own kin would even bother themselves to bury their enemy like a proper person! Why would they? Humans had invaded their planet; they had every right to punish them after death. And yet the very thought of her father’s body being preyed on by those creatures; his flesh being torn apart by black teeth made her heart fill with anger. She heard some Na’vi talking from afar and she knew their language well enough to this point so to know that they were talking about her. Everyone was seeing her as weird, ill-tempered and moody and they were probably right but it hurt her non-the-less and what was more; she felt kind of bad for being a burden to Ballard too, making him often mocked on because of her. She un-stabbed her knife angrily and placed it, back to its sheathe. All this reasoning led it nowhere. She needed time to think. She got up from her sitting point and stomped away; ignoring the comments she could hear ringing to her ears….Forest seemed to open its embrace to her, offering her a place to calm. Whether she liked it or not, this world was way too beautiful. Thanks to Ballard she knew many of those plants; she knew which of them she had to avoid, which of them were edible, which of them were beneficial and which of them were poisonous. All thanks to him… Cornelia shook her head; no, here I go again, she scolded herself. At that moment she heard a rustle through the trees and bushes. She gasped and turned around. The rustle happened again. Cornelia drew the knife and held it in her hand. She wondered whether to move towards that spot or run away. She had no idea what it was. It could be one of those herbivores that only needed to be faced bravely and be done with it. However she couldn’t have been more wrong. She first heard the Thanator and then saw it jumping out of the bushes. She screamed and duck. The creature passed over her head and landed feet away from her. It roared. Cornelia was shaking all over. The huge predator was three times bigger than her and those teeth did not seem to be joking! She could see now why the locals called this creature “dry mouth, bringer of fear”! Her whole body sure had been shaking with fear, her heart was running with a thousand miles per second and the creature was still releasing its guttural roar, ready to strike. She knew she could avoid it but she would not last forever and she couldn’t run back and bring the thing with her to the village. Her mind had paralyzed in fear already. The creature charged and… Ballard jumped over her and stood between the creature and herself, hissing threateningly.“Ballard!” she yelled. The Thanator had halted and was now roaring. For each roar, Ballad would hiss. Ballard was armed with two arrows, a bow and a knife. There was no way he would… The thanator charged. Ballard swung his bow over his head and used it as a club, hitting the creature just on time when it was charging. The thanator roared enraged and charged. Ballard’s large body was as tall as the thanator was long and their masses were similar and still the creature had a series of sharp teeth and six legs of claws! Ballard’s large body stopped the charge. The creature roared and Ballard grabbed himself onto the creature, rolling onto it and finding himself to the other side. He used his body’s mass to grab the animal by its waist and he rolled it over so the creature was sent flying many feet away. Swift like a leopard, the thanator rolled back to its feet and growled. Ballard had prepared himself.“Ballard! Go! Please go away!” Cornelia yelled from the background.Hunter and beast were eyeing each other. Ballard bestirred himself and placed his body the best he could as a shield to hide Cornelia from the thanator’s view. As the creature gathered air to its lungs gave an earsplitting roar before charging. Ballard had all his senses tensed but at that moment he got distracted by his worry for Cornelia. He barely managed to hold the creature’s teeth away from his face, as beast and warrior fell together backwards. His bow and arrows fell to the forest floor.“BALLARD!” Cornelia screamed.Beast and man became a ball of growls, roars and movement. Ballard’s features had transformed by the huge effort he was putting at keeping the clacking teeth away from his face. At Cornelia’s scream he found strength anew as he pushed hard with his legs upwards, pushing the creature off him. He immediately shot up to his feet, leaning forward like a wild cat, grabbing his knife. He hissed again. It was a warning to the beast. He did not want to hurt him, that was obvious but he also wanted it to stay away from Cornelia. Thanator eyed him and made another charge. Ballard aimed to stab it but the creature’s teeth sank in his arm and the knife fell from his hand. Ballard yelled in pain.“Ballard!” Cornelia called. She had to do something! Anything! Her eye fell onto Ballard’s long-bow. The thing must have been as tall as she was but she had no other choice. They were away and she wouldn’t be able to get close enough to throw her knife. She grabbed the weapon the moment Ballard was pushing the creature away. He was getting the upper hand but the creature had tasted his blood and he wouldn’t give up! Cornelia placed the arrow to the cord and started tensing it. Her arms; from shoulder to fingertips, were shaking by the effort. She could not tense it completely but she hoped it was enough. It was hard to aim while the two of them were still moving; she had no clear aim. She clenched her teeth. It was now or never! She yelled as she released the arrow. She was not really aiming for it and perhaps the constant shaking of her arms did the job but the arrow slashed the air and…clocked one of Thanator’s teeth off! Blood emerged out of the wound and the thanator roared in pain and rage. His terrible and deadly head turned to her. Ballard gasped. Cornelia was frozen there, with the giant bow in her hand; her golden eyes open as wide as they could be. The thanator leaped on her and she closed her eyes, waiting for the end. Ballard rushed there, jumped over and placed himself between them the perfect moment. What happened next had happened so fast that Cornelia filed to comprehend it. Ballard had grabbed one saber of the upper jaw and one saber of the lower and held the mouth hanging between closed and open. He was growling and trembling under the effort. It was a battle between two giants with notorious strength however Ballard seemed to have stuck on the ground while the Thanator felt like being lifted up. Ballard was overpowering it!“RRRRAHHH!” Ballard yelled in a mixture of effort and intimidation and threw the creature on the ground! The thanator hissed as it was totally dazed. Ballard’s large hands got beneath it and the giant lifted the creature above his head, before it had time to come back to its senses. Cornelia’s eyes had hanged open, seeing him holding the thanator above his head; every single muscle of his body was tensed and twitching under its weight and yet Ballard was almost making it effortless. Ballard carried the creature to the edge of the cliff close by and he threw it off into the river below. The thanator came to surface roaring upwards but it was clear it was defeated. It roared one last time and then ran into the jungle. Ballard watched from the edge of the cliff, making sure it wouldn’t be coming back. The tension was left and Cornelia’s knees collapsed as she fell on them to the ground. Ballard reacted at the sudden thud and ran to her.“Cornelia!”His arms reached for her and…he embraced her! Cornelia gasped as she was drawn into the wall-like warm chest. It was the first time Ballard fully touched her and yet she was not alarmed…on the contrary…she felt incredibly content…!“Shh…” Ballard whispered to her softly, “It is over…it is over now… You are safe…”Cornelia was too shocked to find her voice. She could only smell his earthy scent; the mixture of wet soil and fresh wood… Her nerves broke and tears emerged like waterfalls from her big eyes.“If you hadn’t come…! If you hadn’t…!”And she finally cried and she cried a lot. She had truly seen her life passing before her eyes. Ballard held her tightly, even so with care; as if he was taking care not to hurt her.“Hush…” he whispered reassuringly, “It is over…you are safe now…you are safe… It is over…”Cornelia took her time but Ballard’s voice was so calming that eventually she stabilized her breathing and she calmed down… Ballard was now almost rocking her back and forth, like a father calming his daughter after a bad dream… She inhaled his scent again. He smelt so nicely…! But she also smelt the metallic scent of blood. She looked his arm. It was bleeding badly.“Oh my God!” she whispered, “You’re hurt!”Ballard looked at his wound, as if he had seen that only then. She escaped his embrace and looked around the bushes to find some medical plants. Ballard smiled softly, holding his wounded arm.“For bites…you better use the root…” he advised her…She run back at him and began tending his wound. It felt strange that they had come full circle. For a moment she started trembling.“Cornelia…?”“Why…?” she whispered, “You could get yourself killed…and yet…for my sake…!”She wiped the upcoming tears.“How could I let anything happen to you…?” Ballard whispered softly“Why?!” she yelled, “I treat you awfully! I keep on being moody and…and ungrateful! I do not like your people and yet…yet you…”She sighed defeated.“You risked your life to save mine…to save this…fake body! I would probably survive even if they killed me…”She had barely realized that. Of course it was only a theory and no one really wanted to put it into action but the theory said that the Driver would continue to live even if his or her Avatar died physically. Now that her mind was working again properly she realized the truth. He was risking everything while she was risking only a part of hers.“I could perhaps wake as human again…but you… You risked your life for me! Why!”Ballard looked at her and he answered simply.“Do I need a reason to protect someone I hold precious?”Cornelia’s eyes opened wide. Ballard’s face blushed ten shades darker.“I-I mean…” he whispered, “…Every life is precious…and I hold them all the same precious. And this body of yours…I am aware of how it works. However it makes no difference to me. It is the body you had when I met you…it is you…and it is equally important…”Cornelia could not answer…she was at loss of words…and she remained as such for the rest of the day and many of the days to come… She could feel only one thing at that moment; gratefulness…
