I love the colour combination and the lighting, including the little pendant/lantern she holds.

Being a barefooter, that was the first thing I noticed, how well you did the feet!
That willow makes me want to lie down under it. What a great place to sit a while!
The hair and blouse are very beautiful and realistic. I kept wondering when she would turn around so I could ask what she was doing here.
Her hips and arm resting on the tree, one foot raised, kind of make me think she is either waiting for someone, or resting. Something how she holds her head and the arm with the necklace makes me think she is wary and expects something to happen. Gah! Now i want to read the book to find out what happens! You tell a very good tale.

Wooooow I LOVE her hair and the lighting. But most of all her hair. I have a really hard time doing realistic wavy hair. Totally envious

Parts of this look almost real. Great work. That little shiny thing might get lost on a standard size paperback book cover though. Is it significant?

As the others says, your details are amazing. But what I really love is your color choices. Each painting as a unique feel to it due to the colors - beautiful!

This is stunning. The combination of color, light, shadow and contrast draws the eye to the girl. Her pose suggests perhaps a patient expectation, like something is about to happen and she knows it.
Beautiful painting.

I like how her back is to the viewer. I hate it when books have the characters face painted on the cover. ttly ruins my mental image :c Just look at the old school british covers on Harry Potter 8I

Im a little confused as to why she's in sweatpants and a corset... and how her feet didn't get dirty walking on grass, buuut ...
this is really beautiful and I think you're an incredibly talented artist. I love the lighting and the mood.

Simply amazing! Just curious, do you find lineless or linearted work easier?

artsangel In reply to Wheatart [2011-03-02 23:58:37 +0000 UTC]
Lineless, actually. I'm not so skilled with the care and precision required for good lines.

TamalasGhost In reply to artsangel [2011-03-03 16:38:31 +0000 UTC]
I agree with that as well. It's so hard to make nice, clean lines that aren't awkward or wobbly. And in a way, it's more work. You already have to do the sketch, and the colouring; the lines are yet ANOTHER step. I don't mind using lines if I'm allowed to make them rough and sketchy. People say it just looks lazy, but I think there's a certain charm to it. The girl's hair in the picture is absolutely gorgeous, by the way. Strangely enough, I'm impressed by small details, like the wrinkles in the foot. I would have had no idea how to draw a foot at that angle without a good reference picture.
