i've done a few that i might upload eventually, but I copied them from drawings on google images. (not traced of course) is that a good way to start? How did you go about it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Artsy50 In reply to Nebbleator96 [2012-07-15 11:27:40 +0000 UTC]

I think that's fine, so long as you give credit where credit is due. Its called fanart.

I sort of just dove into it when I joined DA. I've always loved dragons, but I'd never really drawn one until I started here. I used to look at other drawings, and even the movie Dragonheart, one of my favorites, and then changed things around. Play with the drawings, make changes, add your own elements. Try something new. Get inspired by looking at other people's art.

Then let me see what you come up with.

Most of all, have fun. If it's not fun, it's not worth it.

Is there anything you can't draw?

Artsy50 In reply to Living-In-Whimsy [2012-07-14 22:13:26 +0000 UTC]

I don't know... Lots of things are difficult to draw without a reference...As long as I have a good reference, I can muddle along. Some things, like dragons, can't be really be referenced as such, but you can use bits and pieces from other species such as reptiles and bats for inspiration. Just takes practice!

Thank you. Though, if one reads the artists comment, all I did was create her using an online tool. I did not draw the lines unfortunately.
