Information

Lately, I've been designing and selling adopts in the form of unusual and creative creatures, with the promise of free ownership to the few who ask. As many free offers do woe me, there's always a tempting high bid. So, I've decided to make a totally free batch. What's the catch? You must give it its background information. You may enter multiples, but you will only win one. The more information, and the more detailed it is, the more likely I am to pick yours! If you'd like to submit the information, but still want to do the drawings, just comment 'TBA' in the drawing slots, then edit your comment later when the drawings are done. I will check for edits, so don't worry! I will see it. And, if you want to turn your creature into a profiting semi-open or closed species, please note me after winning it so we can discuss terms. Just fill out the form below. Anything with a '*' is optional. There is also an example below.

Example

Number: 5
Species Name: Hefpera
Average Height for Males: 54 in. at the shoulder
Average Height for Females: 48 in. at the hip
Average Weight for Males: 430 lbs.
Average Weight for Females: 360 lbs.
Summary of Creature's Appearance: The Hefpera appears to be a wingless relative to the mighty griffin. Instead of wings, the Hefpera has exaggerated feathered 'spikes' at the shoulders and hips. Their beaks are serrated inside for biting and ripping off meat. Their eyes are keen, and can see in the dark. Their ears are flexible, and their hearing is tremendous. They can hear their prey a mile away. They are fast, averaging 40 mph when they run. The underside of this creature is lined in a soft, fatty pouch that helps this creature float in the water. In males, this pouch is a brilliant red or gold. In females, it is duller. The fur is soften a dark grey-blue. The skin is a lighter colour. The eyes are often gold or yellow. The beak is bone or yellow as well.
Summary of Creature's Behavior: Hefpera are diurnal creatures, meaning they are awake during the day. During the day, they hunt and socialize. By night, they sleep or migrate. Hefpera are migratory creatures, moving locations during hot and cold seasons to find just the right temperature. Mating occurs during the spring and autumn, when no migration is needed.
Overall Temper of Species: Hefpera are generally friendly and social creatures. Amongst themselves, they talk, play, go for swims, and sunbathe. Towards rivals and hunters, they usually react with anger and domination. These creatures are not easily approached by outsiders and are not tame.
Social Stance: Hefpera are social creatures. They gather in large groups of 40 or more. Hefpera are very social. Females work together to hunt and care for young. Males will defend the territory and fight over mates. There is usually a 1:3 ratio in males and females, respectively.
Method of Birth (e.g. eggs, live birth, etc.): Hefpera lay eggs. If properly incubated, they will hatch in 10 to 12 days.
*Name for a Group of This Species (if social) (e.g. cow herd, wolf pack, etc.): A group of Hefpera is called a dwelling.
Name of Males (e.g. bull, tom, sire, etc.): Males are called tercels.
Name of Females (e.g. cow, queen, dame, etc.): Females are called falcons.
Name of Offspring (e.g. calf, kit, whelp, etc.): Offspring are called whelps.
Biome: Coastal estuaries and beaches make the homes of the Hefpera.
Preferred Habitat: Hefpera like to sleep in dens in coastal cliffs, or make nests in the sand.
Diet: Hefpera are piscivores. They thrive on fish and seafood, seagulls and other sea birds, and turtles. Occasionally, they will take small livestock near their beaches.
*Method of Hunting (if carnivorous or omnivorous): Females herd fish, then catch as many as they can in their beaks. Birds are lured to the ground with a fish or fish scraps, then pounced on. Turtles are paralyzed with a good pounce, and dragged to the nesting sights. Livestock are snatched in passing. Rarely do Hefpera actively hunt livestock.
Favourite Food: Hefpera love turtles, for they are large.
Least Favourite Food: Sea urchins are generally disliked. They cannot Crack them open well without getting hurt by the spines.
*Camouflage (if applicable): Hefpera have no camouflage, except maybe the blue-grey of their fur in the water and against stone.
Offense: Hefpera use their powerful beaks, claws, and talons to fight. Their weight can be used to easily pin prey and body slam.
Defense: Hefpera use their tails for defense, as these strong appendages can take heavy blows without risking too much damage. The fatty underbelly pouch serves to protect from hard falls and put a new extra layer between the enemy and vital organs.
Fight or Flight?: Hefpera are more willing to stand their ground than run away, unless they are alone. In groups, they have iron will.
*Magic (if applicable): Hefpera do not possess any magic, as far as we know.
Usual Colour of Species (pallets appreciated): sta.sh/01g0hsnz6xhx
Usual Patterns of Species: Patterns usually include gradiated capes, ticking, and white spots. More uncommonly, Hefpera can have brindling or striping.
*Example of Coloured-In Species (use lines provided if you like): sta.sh/019ysmd2rh53
*Drawings of behavior, gatherings, hunting, etc. (I would LOVE to see this): TBA

Thank you, have fun, and good luck! I'll announce the winners when I feel I've found a good owner.

Number: 1
Species Name: Lumikiba (Lumi meaning 'snow' in Finnish and Kiba meaning 'fang' in Japanese)
Average Height for Males: Approximately six feet tall.
Average Height for Females: A bit smaller, around about 5'4 to 5'6.
Average Weight for Males: Approximately 350-400 pounds.
Average Weight for Females: Approximately 330-380 pounds.
Summary of Creature's Appearance: The Lumikiba is a large carnivorous mammal with very thick fur and and extremely good hearing. The Lumikiba closely resembles a wolf in body structure with the head of a dragon or shark. The long strands of fur hanging about the neck are an indicator of dominance. The longer the strands, the higher the ranking the animal holds. Alphas have very long strands and Betas have only slightly shorter ones. Alphas are born into their position as the long-stranded fur or mane sticks within their genes. The claws of the Lumikiba are very sharp and are great for holding onto rocks and climbing mountains. The eyesight of the Lumikiba is not their best trait as the only have the vision of an average human. The color of their eyes can range to any color, but are most commonly shades of bluish-silver and gold. The beads in the strands of the Lumikiba's manes is made of various colors of crystal. No color is exactly alike and the color of the beads are chosen at birth.
Summary of Creature's Behavior: The Lumikiba is a very social creature as it works in a group for everything. They tend to be rather peaceful and avoid fights when possible. They are very caring, loving, and loyal creatures, especially to their families.
Overall Temper of Species: These creatures tend to have a slight food aggression around other species and are very protective of their territory and family. Other than that, they have a rather high tolerance level.
Social Stance: Ranks in order of respect: Alpha male/female (being the highest rank) Beta (second in command) Shaman (handles healing and spiritual connections) Trailblazers (in charge of discovering new land and territory, also alerts the pack of upcoming weather or threats in their territory) Huntsmen (in charge of providing food for the pack/clan) Tenderfoots (young members of the pack, in training for upcoming positions)
Method of Birth (e.g. eggs, live birth, etc.): All Lumikiba are a product of live birth.
*Name for a Group of This Species (if social) (e.g. cow herd, wolf pack, etc.): They tend to be called a pack or a clan. Their size can range anywhere from 5-20 Lumikiba.
Name of Males (e.g. bull, tom, sire, etc.): Typically called a Sire.
Name of Females (e.g. cow, queen, dame, etc.): Typically called a Dame or Dam.
Name of Offspring (e.g. calf, kit, whelp, etc.): Typically called a Whelp.
Biome: These creatures can live anywhere, however they tend to favor the colder climates.
Preferred Habitat: They tend to thrive in the mountains where it is cold but also take nicely to anywhere snowy.
Diet: They are carnivorous and feed off of most anything in the mountain regions or in the plains. Animals such as deer, caribou, hares, squirrels, and etc. are always on the menu.
*Method of Hunting (if carnivorous or omnivorous): They tend to work in groups as wolves do although, depending on the size of the meal, they will hunt alone. Groups typically bring back food for the Lumikiba at home.
Favourite Food: Caribou is typically the species' favorite food.
Least Favourite Food: Typically any sort of berries or grass. They are carnivores and would rather avoid these things.
*Camouflage (if applicable): They cannot use any form of camouflage. They must make due with their surroundings using their natural colors.
Offense: They use their claws, teeth, and the ice spines they create from their back as their weapons.
Defense: Their thick fur, speed, and ice-covered backs protect them from attacks.
Fight or Flight?: When called to fight, the Lumikiba is typically a peaceful creature as they try to protect their pack and get away without harm or injury, however they will fight to the death to protect their loved ones and family.
*Magic (if applicable): The thick fur on their backs can turn into sharp points which create ice shards. This is used as a form of protection from enemies as it acts as a shield but also as a weapon.
Usual Colour of Species (pallets appreciated): Palettes similar to this: 4.bp.blogspot.com/_5VLe19ewUX8… or this: www.color-hex.com/palettes/316… are very common, however, on rare occasions, the species colors can be similar to these: 2.bp.blogspot.com/_RTsDR2DWVrQ…www.color-hex.com/palettes/717…
Usual Patterns of Species: There are various patterns the species can have. Some carry stripes, others have a few spots, and some are simply a solid color with highlights of other shades.
*Example of Coloured-In Species (use lines provided if you like): sta.sh/0zovtsevntd Clef here is being used as my example <3
*Drawings of behavior, gatherings, hunting, etc. (I would LOVE to see this): sta.sh/0221l4d8yzbm I may make others later.
.
Why do you want this creature?: I have always favored an original species over just the general fox or cat you typically see here on deviantart. I love to have something original and different from what everyone else has.
What do you like about this creature?: I mainly enjoy all the mixed in species I see. I notice the structure of a canine along with a dragon-like head and some extra fur. I really enjoy the overall look of this creature.
What would you change or add to this creature?: It would for the most part stay exactly as it is, unless I add something like a mutation (extra tail, extra eye, etc.) to it.
What are you going to do with this creature?: It will most likely be used for a fursona and then make its way to become adopts.
If you are doing so, what type of species are you turning this into? (e.g. personal, open, etc.): It will likely be a closed species or a personal species, but could turn into a semi-open species.
Finally, what's your favorite creature I've made thus far? Do you want to see any of my creatures turned into a species? An open or closed species?: I just went looking through your gallery and I must say your creatures are very interesting and original. <3 I must say that I really enjoy the creatures that you have here: artzy-adopts.deviantart.com/ar… as well as many others !

Number- 1

Species name- Noix (no-icks)

Avg. Height Males- 36” (3ft at shoulders)

Avg. Height Females- 33” (2.7ft at shoulders)

Avg. Weight Males- 75-80 lbs.

Avg. Weight Females- 75-80 lbs. (same size so now sex is dominate)

Summary of Appearance- The anatomy of the Noix is stocky like that of a Bulldog or Boston terrier, but its mass/size is the same as a large Husky. The males in the species only bear wings. Their wings also are similar to the style of an Eagle or a Hawk. Noix’s share similar facial feature to a lizard or in some cases a dragon. Giving them superior smelling scenes. Also, to go along with the dragon features they have similar jaw structures, with massive canines that snag out from the outer jowls. This creates the best way to take down prey, with bone crushing 60lbs per square inch when they bite down. (Ouch) When in combat the lack of a snout comes in handy. An average Noix can reach speed up to 50 mph, while more active Noix’s can reach speeds up to 70mph. While the females lack wings, they are built with a much slimmer body resulting in faster speeds. There colors range from dark shades of blue, to lighter shades of brownish. The males tend to be duller in color while the females are brighter. Wings on the males can range from shades of greenish-blue to yellowish-red as well.

Summary of Behavior- Noix’s are a nomadic, nocturnal group of animal. At night they wander the jungle/forest looking for a place to rest in the morning. This time of night is when they are social and friendly, often rolling around a playing with each other. While in the daytime they spend almost the full day sleeping. (Give or take a few disturbances along the way). No matter what season it is, these guys are always on the move, the only time the ever stay in one place for more than mouth is autumn, during their mating season.

Overall Temper- Noix’s are the most bi-polar species. During the night they can be friendly and kind to one another, all joyous and happy. But, then at night if anything disturbs them, wither it’s another Noix or something else. It results in an often brutal duel, when in these fights they never kill their challenger, instead leave them with a few scars to remember them by. Being nomadic, these creatures are impossible to train or capture. They normally outwit their capture.

Social Stance- The group of a Noix pack contains a varying amount of members, majorly 20-30 Noix’s at a time. Males will go out hunting in the cold seasons of travel, (this is the time of birth for the females). In the warmer months is when the females go out to hunt. Ratio is always constant 1:1 (will explain in brith).

Method of Birth- The females that have successfully mated in the fall, will lay two “pods” (like eggs but softer and have a thinner cell wall). These two pods will incubate for another 7 days, until they split. Resulting in a female and male Noix. It’s unknown why they always have two opposite sex offspring.

*Name for a Group of this species- A group of Noix’s a called a pack.

Name of Males- the Males are deemed virile. (Virials)

Name of Females- the females are deemed Virgo (Virgos)

Name of offspring- the young Noix’s are deemed Kits.

Biome- Large jungle like woods and cavernous trenches to sleep in when kits are born.

Diet- Noix’s are an omnivore species. So they will eat a mix of jungle like fruit and smaller creatures such as capybara.

Favorite Food- Mangos and papayas, they are hard to find within their native woods. But, if found they grow in abundance giving the Noix’s a delicacy to die for.

Least Favorite food- Snakes are mostly disliked. The Noix hate the way they slide down the throat.

*Camouflage- There isn’t any distinct camouflage within the Noix race, the males may blend in a bit, but the vast vegetation within the jungles/forest clash with the Noix pelts.

Offense- The sharp frontal claws help them when predators attack. Sharp bone snapping jaws also help within a fight.

Defense- If the fight is too much in the opposite side the males use there mighty wings to fly off out of range. 70% of the time if they use their wings they can escape. While the females must rely on their speed to get them safe. 60% survival rate within females.

Fight or Flight- Noix will stand their ground unless the fight is too weighed against their favor.

Magic- None that we know

Usual color pallets- (don’t have access to google right now but:.) Males- dull shades of red or tan with mutably colored wings [reddish to greenish] Females- brighter Shades of Blue and green [even yellow-green in rare cases] Kits-  Light tan for both genders

Patterns- The wings are a gradient of a color wither it red, blue, green, ect. While the pelts of any gender is a solid color with stripes near the rump of a darker color. With same darker spot on the muzzle and ear/tail tips.

Is there anyway you could put this one on hold, I really like it, but I don't have my laptop with me right now and I can't type the required info. I really like the design. I will get the info within 2 hrs, I just need to get my laptop. (I'm in a car right now with really bad connection)

Number: 3
Species Name: Drakirus
Average Height for Males: 3'-5"
Average Height for Females: 2'-8"
Average Weight for Males: Estimated 4 pounds
Average Weight for Females: Estimated 3 pounds
Summary of Creature's Appearance: Drakirus are covered in short but thick fur, complimented by thick plates and scales in vulnerable areas of the body to aid in defense.
Summary of Creature's Behavior: These dragon-like creatures are known for being very timid, due to the lives they lead. Travelling in nomadic groups of up to 6 individuals (up to 5 females, only one male) they do not follow herds, but rather are constantly on the hunt for creatures such as rabbits. They are quite skittish due to their timid nature, and are known to panic during particularly bad storms.
Social Stance: Social, although they tend not to like those not of their species or specific group.
Method of Birth (e.g. eggs, live birth, etc.): Eggs.
*Name for a Group of This Species (if social) (e.g. cow herd, wolf pack, etc.): Drakirus clan.
Name of Males (e.g. bull, tom, sire, etc.): Sire.
Name of Females (e.g. cow, queen, dame, etc.): Dame.
Name of Offspring (e.g. calf, kit, whelp, etc.): Whelp.
Biome: Temperate forests and grasslands/plains.
Preferred Habitat: Thickly forested areas with enough vegetation to support a group, or an area near a water source (river, lake) with long grasses for hunting.
Diet: Carnivorous, mainly consisting of rabbits, deer, snakes/lizards and small birds, although if desperate they will eat any type of meat they can get their hands on.
*Method of Hunting (if carnivorous or omnivorous): Pack hunting/ambush tactics. Hiding in tall grasses or using the cover of the forest to their advantage, one member will scare the prey towards the other waiting members of the clan, who will kill it.
Favourite Food: Deer.
Least Favourite Food: Fish (though they will eat it if desperate.)
*Camouflage (if applicable): N/A
Offense: Teeth, claws, horns.
Defense: Thick scales/plates, natural camouflage.
Fight or Flight?: Depends on the situation. If in a pack, or if the predator is their size or smaller, fight. If alone and the predator is larger or more dangerous, flight.
*Magic (if applicable): N/A
Usual Colour of Species (pallets appreciated): Their main coloration is usually tans, browns, and greens. The plates and scales are often shades of grey, but can be white or pink as well.
Usual Patterns of Species: Stripes to aid with camouflage.
*Example of Coloured-In Species (use lines provided if you like): Nope, sorry.
*Drawings of behavior, gatherings, hunting, etc. (I would LOVE to see this): Nope, sorry.
.
Why do you want this creature?: It has a nice design, and it would likely fit very nicely into the world I'm building.
What do you like about this creature?: The design is very appealing to me.
What would you change or add to this creature?: Perhaps more plates/horns/spikes, and maybe longer fur.
What are you going to do with this creature?: Insert it into the world I'm building as well as make characters.
If you are doing so, what type of species are you turning this into? (e.g. personal, open, etc.): Personal or open, I think.
Finally, what's your favorite creature I've made thus far? Do you want to see any of my creatures turned into a species? An open or closed species?: Well, I only came across you today, so I don't know much about your various species. However, I am partial to the example creature you made, and would love to see what it would look like if it got a new design. And it'd probably do well as an open species.
