Yes, my doodles tend to gravitate towards that late 70s to 80s shoujo manga style. Many of the manga of that era had beautiful line work. My favorite influence, though, I must say is Yamato Waki, who did Asaki Yumemishi, a manga retelling of the famous "Tale of Genji" by Murasaki Shikibu.
I've been working in Corel Painter for almost 2 years now. My recent works are getting closer and closer to what I've always wanted to achieve with digital painting programs. I think I've been trying to reproduce the look and feel of watercolor. ^^

Blue! And I love those sea dragons! As much as I love the ones that are more defined, I'm entirely taken with the one in the background that's faded away because of distance lol /weird XD

XD I loved those dragon flies too... and you make me wonder what's "too bright" to you... ^_^ Because bright to me is like a bunch of neon or something. lol

Aaahh gotcha! So it's more of an "overdoing it on the eyes" sort of thing. Like those crazy geometric things that make you dizzy if you stare at them long enough? lol It's the same with colors... don't want to kill anyone's eyes.

LOL Is there any way to change the settings? Like maybe they're more vibrant than a regular monitor? lol I dunno XD

I turned the brightness setting down from 100 to 64 when I was working on the Indian Red Moth Fairy picture and haven't reset it since. It's still plenty bright, but it could be my eyes... T_T Jr. thinks it's fine.

LOL You should post something you think looks off in color (too bright, too saturated etc) and see what other people think. That'd be another way to find out. OR that could be me just wanting to see something you think is too loud. XD

You made the sea dragons visible while still having them look quite kelpy. It's quite the amazing feat since they're just hidey little creatures.

Thank you. ^^ They sure are hard to spot. ^^ I started the coloring with the sea dragons, and when I was done with them, I didn't want to do much with the girl or her kelpy hair.

You are amazing. Can you write as well as you can draw?

Don't like writing? I was going to say, you could write and illustrate a book.
I'm learning to play the piano. It's hard for me.

I can always find a writer to collaborate with if I wanted to do a book, I figure. ^^
