Description ah, here we go again. the forward unto dawn, just one of maybe 3 ships that the UNSC had left at the end of the war.

when you think about it, how the FUD ended up there is kinda messed up: when the ship got bisected at the end of halo 3, it lost the bridge and with it, the only thing cortana and MC needed to jump: navagation. yup, that's all. they had a shaw-fujikawa slipspace drive, the reactor, the engines, and an AI with a complete map of the UNSC planetary coordinates and the smarts to get them there.

and the only things cortana didn't have were a steering wheel and ignition. oh hell oh well.

I still miss the Dawn. Wish it got a more respectable send out. There's no cool cinematic cut-scene showing the ship entering Requiem, but it's just blown up in the background of gameplay and we don't even get a good look of the ship after the crash.

You know, I'm surprised humans still want money when they're faced with extinction. Oh well, thats human nature for you

ah, but there was nothing left of the autumn. though 300 million degrees of self-destructing nuclear engine is still pretty awesome.

More like hundreds of billions, maybe even trillions.

yeah. i do find it ironic that for all the times in the books and games that the cost of something like the MJOLNIR armor is referenced, a definitive cost is never present.

Im kinda glad the FUD was destroyed in halo 4.They made it look like a tube but ill still miss it even if it did meet its end getting sucked into a planet as a tube.

maybe not by that much (realatively). a single interstellar currency does that.

But did they know where they were? That's why the portal was so important. You can't coordinate a proper slipspace jump without knowing your current position. Normally, this is easy by making the AI scan for nearby star systems that are familiar, triangulating there position. However, outside the known galaxy, where there are extremely few, if any star systems, I dought they could have pulled the jump off. Anyway, I bet they were out of range. Of course, this is all guesses.

y'know, i've always wondered what the range of a pre-forerunner engine (halo: glasslands) UNSC ship is? considering it took weeks on average to get from earth to reach.

not to say you're wrong in a bad way, but that's actually the UNSC Infinity, well what's left of it anyway. The ship is made from aquired Covenant and Forerunner Technology by UNSC. It original AI was put on stanby when the crew found the remaints of 343 Guilty Spark, and he took over the ship to find the Forerunner being known as "The Librarian" that he claimed to have found her.*

*(From Halo: Primordium, Book 2 of the Forerunner Saga)

later one of it's rear engines failed and crashed somewhere on Requiem.*

*(Forerunner Dyson Sphere in the Legendary Ending of Halo 3)

And the ship in Primordium is both NOT THE INFINITY and is still missing to this day.

No, it's the Forward Unto Dawn. 343i just made a huge mistake, and completely changed the design of a Charon-Class Light Frigate.
