~ Basic story/premise behind your imaginary series:
It is the year 1986 and young and kind Persephone Homer is an average 16-year-old, who is starting her second year of Secondary school. She is seemingly unremarkable but is liked by many of her peers and friends.
But there is one thing that sticks out about her - she can lucid dream and travel between people's dreams. However, interesting things start happening when one Evandalier Blackmouth appears in her dreams, bringing with him a realm of imagination and fantasy.
And with this, the responsibility falls upon her to become a Dream Locker - the most powerful human protectors of the Dream Realm.

~ What was your inspiration, and why do you think this is a show that would appeal to people?:
My inspiration came from mostly my own dreams (wow how original lol) where I had a series of dreams in which I met wacky characters, odd settings and just Bill Cipher levels of weirdness and went on crazy adventures with the characters.
The only character who appears in this drawing from my dreams is Billy Marionette, who I probably dreamed up because of my fascination with the Five Nights at Freddy's series at the time. Persephone is the name I gave for the POV character I was in my dreams, while Evandalier, Lulu and the DoATE are all original creations and not from my dreams.
I had other characters I wanted to add but since five was the limit for the contest, I surrendered to these five main ones!
Other characters I wanted to add were Queen Aurelia of the Dream Realm, Phantasos (who seemingly follows Persephone around like a lost puppy) and Persephone's friends from the Waking Realm.
Why 1986? Fuck you that's why. Actually, I wanted to try experimenting. I wasn't born in the 80s nor was I teenager during that time, but my mother was. So a lot of information regarding style of clothing and other things in the Waking Realm comes from her, so A LOT OF THANK YOUS for her! 
The core idea which would fuel the watcher's attention would be weird imagery and animation, silly characters, random humor, the air of mystery and suspense and above all else, compelling stories.
If this was to be a show, it would primarily focus on the relationships between our four protagonists and the development they receive. The episodes would be episodic, pertaining to one episode per adventure and have an overarching story every season.
If you want a silly yet accurate way of picturing it, think of "What if Gravity Falls, Star VS the Forces of Evil and Alice in Wonderland had a weird threesome baby - but in a good way."

Hmm another dream based one, it has a very nice design and I can get behind the concept. Does need a bit more polish to it but I do like that it's sent in a time period where things aren't easily accessible and seeing a kid growing up in that era. Considering this is also the era where films like Back to the Future, Robocop and Ghostbusters came about. I can see some very crazy world spawning from things like that (inspired from of course). Could make for a nice coming of age story too. So color me intrigued.

I think this idea is interesting if done right. From this image alone, I only understand so much (mainly because I'm a derp who doesn't understand things unless ridiculously clear, so don't take me as an example of understanding because I don't understand a lot because my brain is wired differently than most - yay genetics! DX).
I like the idea that you are trying a different time period. Not being from that time, it creates a larger challenge (unless you know enough due to a lifetime - or just a lot of time - of being taught about said time, which you implied). I think there's a lot you can do with that, even hinting at the now since we already know what will happen. And I like that you have a character who is easily put into the 'I'm average here but I'm not in this new environment'. While it is cliche, I do think that this setting is perfect for a character like that. Since dreams take place outside of reality, her 'average' behavior is unaffected since she has always been able to travel between dreams and so it's nothing new.
I definitely would like to see a show like this because I think it would do well. As someone who loves fantasy, and enjoys reality manipulation when done right (I think Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland series was just a hint off. Dr. Strange was more on the right track since it coincided with reality, which is how it's supposed to be in my opinion). Since you have it be in dreams, which is like the other realm in Dr. Strange, it works. At least I think I have that right.
Anywho, great idea. I like the other characters, too. A lot of potential. Good luck!

Oh yeah, I have no idea what the 80s were like, but with my mom's help, it is VERY fun to collaborate and I've found that there is lots to talk about and add! I'm ready to dive right out of my comfort zone to make this story as believable as possible.
Persephone is one of those characters who isn't completely unfamiliar with the Dream Realm because of her abilities and so she knows how to use most of her abilities already, so she isn't completely unprepared.
Oh certainly! Except the story is very much inspired by hammy 80s cartoons, over-the-top levels of over-the-top and just cartoonish charm that many cartoons lack nowadays due to wanting to be all edge and gloom (which is so boring and not very fun).
I mean, when you have the main villain's name as "The Dame-of-All-Things-Evil", you know it's gonna be a fun yet cheesey ride! Which is why I would LOVE to animate this if I had the proper tools.

It seems dreams is a popular inspiration for many when it comes to creating stories. Your characters all look pretty dang interesting, though your plot does seem cliche - not a bad thing by the way! Back in my younger days I could not get enough for this kind of plot in stories so your intended audience is spot on as that age of people dig stuff like this!
I really like your art too! I don't see many completely traditional artists now that tablets and graphic pads exist. The colours you used are bright and very eye catching, definitely a plus here!

This sounds like a really interesting concept, and I would love to see more. It looks like it would have lots of random humor, considering it was compared to Alice in Wonderland but still looks like it would be a great cartoon.

I do love stories that take place in dreams! It's a great setting for wackiness and drama at the same time.
I also like that it would be episodic with an overreaching arc. It seems just perfect for the world you've created.

Yeah, if this were a legit show, I would love to throw in episodic elements and have it be like "Avatar; The Last Airbender" with the storytelling and the sense of humor and tone management.
Me too. Evandalier's robes are swooshy and flowy at the bottom, that's something that would cool animated! XD
