"This.... you guys really, REALLY didn't have to do this...." Ichigo muttered as his eye twitched and he looked out at the kitchen before him, there were balloons.. and streamers... and confetti... it looked like a six-year-old was having a birthday party.... the sad part was that yes, indeed there WAS a party going on here... but it was for an eighteen-year-old named Ichigo Kurosaki... "Aw don't be silly Ichigo! Your dad told me how much you love parties!" Rukia said cheerfully, Ichigo then turned a murderous gaze towards his father, "YOU," he said, Isshin gulped, "MOMMY HELP ME!!!!!!" Isshin shouted as he ran through the kitchen with Ichigo after him, "OLD MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Thanks.... Tatsuki..... I'll definatly make use of a punching bag....." Ichigo muttered as he stared at the big .. thing... in front of him, Tatsuki shrugged, "Don't mention it," "I think that's every thing, I don't see anymore gifts laying around," Uryuu said as he pushed his glasses up, "But WAIT! You haven't received your gift from Little Ruia yet!" Isshin screamed from the freezer (where his head was resting after his encounter with Ichigo...) "Psh, Rukia doesn't have to give me anything," Ichigo muttered with a roll of his eyes, "And if you want to give it to him in private upstairs I completely understand and will shoo everyone out of the house!" Isshin shouted, Ichigo sighed and took off his shoe, wordlessly tossing it and letting it hit Isshin's head, "OWWWIE!" he cried, "Actually Ichigo... I do have a gift for you," she said, handing him an envelope, he blinked, the only gifts he ever got in envelopes were either cash or checks for his college fund, and Rukia seemed too classy for cash and probbably didn't have any idea what a college fund was... so he had no clue wat this could be... opening it, he took out a card with an irritated looking cat on the front, he opened it and out fell a small slip of papper, he reached for it but Rukia slapped his hand away, "Read the card FIRST Rudo," she said, he looked down at the card and read it as he was told, "I can't believe you've lived to this ripe age- but I bet you're wishing for nine lives right about now" it said, "Very funny Rukia," he chuckled, picking up the peice of papper, "What is this exactly?" "A receipt," "....For?" "A week's vacation at a beach resort," she replied with a smile, he turned to him with an open mouth and a stunned look, "What? THAT surprised that your rich girlfreind got you something good?" she asked with an offended look on her face, he laughed slightly and shook his head, "Surprised that it isn't rabbit themed," he replied as he hugged her and kissed her cheek

"I still can't believe you did this for me Rukia," Ichigo said quietly as he walked into the hotel lobby with Rukia at his side, she shrugged, "This is only a small amount of what I could possibly do for you, but I figured buying you a house or something may be overkill," "Yeah maybe," Ichigo chuckled as they walked towards the front desk for Rukia to sign them in

"I think there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the way..." Ichigo muttered as he looked at the one bed in the center of the room, Rukia nodded slowly, "Yes... this could be a problum...." she agreed, only then noticing the mini fridge by the side of the bed, "On the other hand..." she mused as she nelt down and opened it up, "We get free strawberries and champagne....."

After deciding to keep the room ("decide" meaning that they were told that was the only vacant room that wasn't reserved) the two got into their swimsuits and went out to the beach for some swimming..... if they had knowen what was about to happen, perhaps they would have stayed inside and played 'Go Fish'.....

"You know for the middle of July it's actually not that hot out here," Rukia mused as she walked into the ocean waters, "I know, it's weird, it's more like early spring," Ichigo mused, walking beside her, "Do you get the feeling something bad is about to happen?" he asked suddenly as they got waist deep in the water, "Nah, I think everything will be fine, let's go swimming," she replied with a smile, gently tapping his forehead before diving under the water like a mermaid

"Rukia," "Yes?" "It's raining," "Yes I'm aware of that," there was a short pause, "Rukia we should probbably go back to the hotel," Ichigo "suggested", "Why? We're already getting wet since we're swimming," "Why? Because this could be a storm, and storms mean lightening and lightening plus water equals electricution," he replied with a sigh, "Oh Ichigo, it's just a little shower, it's not going to-" *BOOM* ....and that would be the thunder.... "Come on, out of the water, we're going," he demanded as he pulled her out of the ocean, most people had left when the sky got dark so they were pretty much left to pack up alone, Rukia sighed as Ichigo started putting away their sunglasses, towels, and other things and she stared at the ground, wordlessly, she picked up one of the large buckets that had had swimming gear in it (masks, snorkles, etc wich were now laid on the lawn chairs and towels that Ichigo was trying to pack up) she walked over to the shore and sat in the wet sand, starting to pick up some things and put them in the bucket, "Rukia? Where are you and what are you doing?" he asked as he turned around to find her gone, "I'm right here, I'm just getting some sea shells," she replied, "...Why?" "You never know what they could be a use for," she replied as she picked up hand fulls of them and put them in the bucket, "Well, you can play in the sand tommorrow, we need to leave before the lightening starts," "Just a few more," "Rukia," "A FEW," he sighed, "You have five minutes,"

"Now aren't you glad that we came back to the hotel when we did?" Ichigo asked with a smirk as Rukia walked out of the shower, being that she was the only one of the two to get her hair wet she had to take a shower wile he had opted to quickly rinse his legs in the bath tub after coming in, considering he hadn't gone into such deep water, "Yeah I guess..." she mused quietly as a storm raged on outside, "So what do you want from room service?" he asked as he picked up the phone, she shrugged, "Mm, you know what I like, pick out something for me," she said, walking back into the bathroom, he raised his eyebrows, "O...k..." he muttered

"Alright Rukia, what are you... doing.... in here........?" Ichigo muttered as he walked into the bathroom, there was Rukia on her nees, leaned over the full bathrtub with her sleeves rolled up and two buckets beside her, he raised his eyebrows and walked closer to see that there were tons of seashells in the bath and one of the buckets had a few in there as well... "So let me repeat myself.... what are you doing in here?" he asked curiously, "Washing sea shells ofcourse," she said, stating it as if it were the most obvious answer in the world, "I see... why?" "So I can make something with them," "Like...?" "None of your buisness," "Yeah well... dinner is here...." he muttered, she smiled and nodded to him, "Ok, I'll be there in a few minutes," she said as she put a handfull of seashells in the bucket beside her, he sighed lightly as he walked back to the main room, 'I don't think I even WANT to know...' he mused

After eating Rukia had gone back to get her sea shells and now they were sitting on the floor by the closet, she had begged Ichigo to take her down to the gift shop in the hotel and he had reluctantly agreed, thinking there was nothing better to do and saying his final farewells to his money, may it rest in peace, but now, as he looked over her purchases.... he became even more confused than he had been before...

"Rukia are you coming to bed or not?" Ichigo grunted as he yawned and turned off the TV, Rukia had been sitting at the table in the room with her sea shells for hours and he was tired... "You go on to sleep, I'll be there soon," she promised, he sighed and turned off the lamp beside him, turning away from the light of her lamp and trying to get some rest

Ichigo yawned quietly and rubbed his eyes, "Good morning~" Rukia hummed quietly, kissing his forehead, "Hm? To what do I owe this pleasure?" he muttered, she smiled and presented him with a small box, "Happy birthday Ichigo," he blinked, "What? My birthday was two days ago..." "No it wasn't, it's today, we made you THINK it was two days ago, we fooled you," she giggled, he blinked, "But... why?" "So you and I could celebrate your birthday alone," she replied, "Wah.." "It was your father's idea, he said that since your last two birthdays were both spent without me that it should be made up for by you and I going away together for your birthday, and as your girlfreind and someone who knows what you like I couldn't agree more," "So that party was a hoax is basically what you're saying," "Exactly~ I wanted to surprise you with a trip here and REALLY celebrating your birthday the way YOU like it, besides, your dad said something about your eighteenth birthday being really special and how you're 'becoming a man' over this weekend and it should be spent alone with your true love," she said innocently, he cursed under his breath, 'Stupid Old Man.... how dare he imply that to Rukia...' he thought to himself, "I have a very Ichigo-esque birthday planned for you today," she said, "Oh?" "Yes, plenty of sun, sand, and hot dogs on the beach~" she giggled, he smiled at her, Rukia knew that he liked his freedom to do what he wants when he wants and not have any kind of restraint, plus he liked his privacy.... an intimate week at the beach was perfect, "Now open your present!" she demanded, "Rukia this trip IS my prsent," he said with confusion, "Yeah but this is just between me and you~" she said, slowly, he unwrapped the box and opened the lid... and chuckled when he found a string of poorly painted seashells inside, "A necklace?" "Yes! Will you wear it?" he looked at it for a moment and put it on, "Ofcourse," he chuckled, kissing her lips lightly, "Just not around people..."
