Description Her past is a very dark part of her life. When she was just few weeks old, she was abandoned in the woods. Ophelia felt fear for the first time in her life when it became dark and she was alone. She wailed and wailed but her mother didn't return. Because of this experience, Ophelia grew up hating darkness. She was found the next day by an old wizard elf, who was on a daily trek of the woods. The wizard sensed Ophelia's (still tentative) mana powers and thought it would be benefiting to society if he helped her cultivate them. Because he didn't have children of his own, he raised Ophelia like he would a daughter.

Due to Ophelia's first emerging Light mana, the wizard taught her the art of healing, incantations and brewing. Ophelia wasn't the quickest in catching onto lessons, therefore most of the time, their oak trunk home end up being a chaotic mess each day. She felt uneasy with her appearance because the other elven children of her village would tease her for having 'small ears'. Because she is a half elven, her ears were much like a humans except that they were pointed at the tip. In order to hide them, she ended up using a tablecloth as a shawl. The old wizard found it amusing, even though he told her that she's no different than anyone else but he let her have it her way.

The conflict of her second mana came when she was around 10 years old. She was out deep in the woods, picking up herbs for potions when she was suddenly seized by two bandits. They were much stronger than her, so they picked her up rather easily and were carrying her away while she tried her best to struggle and scream. The more they moved away, the more she panicked and when the bandits stopped to put her into a rucksack (because she was struggling too much), she felt something click in her subconsciousness and screamed louder than she had before. Quite suddenly, one of the bandits let go off her and clutched at his face, which were caught in flames. His partner dropped Ophelia onto the ground and rushed to help his friend. Ophelia was petrified at the sight of the horror before her but then her instinct reached her legs and she got up and ran as fast as she could back to her village. She locked herself up in her room for months in shocked and self loathing. Despite the obvious intentions of being kidnapped, she couldn't help but feel guilty that she harmed someone. Those screams of agony and suffering from the bandit haunted her sleep during her months of isolation. Even the wizard couldn't do much to help her.

After several months of self imprisonment, Ophelia finally carried on with her life, having resolved never to use that fire power ever again. Sadly, another tragic chapter in her life unfolded a few years later, when raiders attacked her village. It was chaos everywhere, and anyone who was able to fight were doing their best to fend off the raiders, including Ophelia's adopted father. Ophelia and the other villagers ran and tried to find hiding places but were discovered. She watched as the raiders started slaughtering her fellow villagers but she couldn't bring herself to use her powers to fight. Ophelia was nearly killed herself but the old wizard arrived in the nick of time and fought back the raiders with his spells. It took the village a long time to recover and even longer for Ophelia, who felt that she could have saved people if she hadn't been so stubborn in not using her fire power.

When Ophelia was nearly 20, the old wizard passed away, leaving her alone with no one else but her pet Nita. As Ophelia was arranging the wizard's research notes, she came across the world map and saw many scribbles on it. The one that took her attention was a note on Neara, the scribble wrote 'The Guilds of Aether'. Thinking that it sounded familiar, she went to rummage through the wizard's extensive library and narrowed in to the book of Aether history. She spent hours reading and was fascinated by Marius who had the ability to heal and protect people. After closing the book, she decided to pack up and get ready to head for Neara where the guilds are and apply to join the Mage guild. She didn't have anything to hold her here in the village any more and perhaps, being part of the guild may help her overcome her shortcomings and the use of fire. Right now all she thinks is that fire just brings harm, so she definitely needed help in order for her to use it to protect others.

With Nita by her side and her trusty shawl and belt-pack, she sets off for the land of Neara.

Thanks for reading, Zue!

I feel sorry for my O.Cs... I tend to create tragic histories with them ;-;. But I like creating character histories as it helps me get to know my O.Cs even more.
