Wow your shading is amazing and so is your background! I myself am horrible at backgrounds...I need to practice more.

I think you should look at more pictures for a better understanding of anatomy to start. Horses are one of the toughest animals to draw and if this is your first try then its great. Try going for a higher forehead. Use guidelines (I don't know if you use them but I find them very helpful)

Try a big circle for the head and a little circle for the nose/mouth, that way I find the forehead stays the right height.

I can't find anything wrong with the neck and shoulders...and the mane. I always have the most trouble with that so any tips there would be great

It's a good painting for a first one He has a lovely face but the nose looks a bit "flat". I don't know what to say more, the previous comment is right, and I've only one advice: practise!!

Okies you asked for some suggestions in the group Traditional Horses and here you are

Firstly, if you've never drawn horses this one looks very good Of course there are a few anatomical mistakes but everyone has difficulties with it For example the horse's nostrils in your picture are in lower line under than eyes, while they should be in the upper line. And the second thing, it's ears are quite hard to be seen.. Is this made on purpose ? If yes, forget what I wrote

Of course the good idea is to use reference photos and buy some anatomy books and practise, practise and practise
