Spalt maple, maple, walnut, rose thornsSo I've clearly been into these figures with holes in their chests lately. Here I was interested in a rougher look than I often go for. The mold patterns in the maple complement the natural form of the rose thorns I think. The positioning of the crack though unintentional fits in with the theme.

Thanks. The piece is about 16 inches tall, most of the lines are the spalting in the wood, trails left by mold as it grew once the tree was dead. The big line is a crack.
