I like it alot!
Much better with colouring for sure, makes it more living. 
Its something about the sharp water and rough stones and then the kois that are totally ignoring it, that makes such a picture like this so good (if you gonna analyse deep). The kois with their colours against the dull background makes them stand out more. I have to draw something with colour... i suck at it.

i hoped you would like it, the bit i love most like you said is the colourful kois and flowers against the dark background is a great contrast
