The only thing that I would change, and again this is me, so take no offense! I'd add a bit more color to the outfit. Give the belts a dark brown leather, and perhaps a light blue shade on the embroidery of the sleeves of the shirt to go with the cape.

Over all, however, I do like this!

Thanks Kadius. I did try a few other options with the outfit but felt this fitted best with the "feel" of the character as she came to life. Perhaps using a different background may have worked in my favour here as well.

If I make a suggestion, that's just what it is! Not to be taken serious, just food for thought. I've actually had someone chew me out in a note a couple weeks ago over one such suggestion! It's all about what YOU want to create! I just toss in a couple coins into the fountain to help stir the water a bit, know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean. And feel free to make any suggestions you see fit, that's one of the good things about posing your work on dA, someone else may see something that I didn't and that helps me get better. I don't get why someone would have a go at someone else for making a suggestion, but then again, some people are far to precious to begin with.

hmm... what was the light setup for this render?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ascavilya In reply to Tenebere [2011-03-21 03:01:45 +0000 UTC]

I used LDP2 with the Overcast rig.

Tenebere In reply to Ascavilya [2011-03-21 04:27:56 +0000 UTC]

so no UE lights? hmm, LDP is light heavy, but i just have to wonder if adding a low-power "specularity channel" only light might make the texture pop a bit more. as it stands the texture seems flat so i'm not sure if it's surface settings or something else. your thoughts?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ascavilya In reply to Tenebere [2011-03-21 04:44:34 +0000 UTC]

Nope, no UE lights.

Could be surface settings, tho I'd be more inclined to think it will be a combination of that and the post work process I'm currently trailing. LDP can also have some odd effects, highlighting things that you wouldn't expect. It's a great setup but can be a bit finicky to get the best result with.

Let's just say, in the end, it really freakin' hurt... That tree just didn't want to move out of the way in time...

adrenaline seekers... a case of no pain, no gain?

in any event i have to wonder about the sanity of people who literally go downhill mountain biking, or get dropped out of a helicopter to ski down a mountain and that sort of thing. while their may be no feeling like it, life is preferable to careening off the razor's edge. my

LoL, well, mine was an accident... let's just say I looked away for a moment look at something to the side of me, and poof went the trail I was riding on! And was that a mean slope of a hill I went down for fifteen minutes before colliding against that thing!

Hurt then, but it's all giggle and laughs now-a-days!
