Description Acrylics on Illustration Board

This painting was done for a charity auction to benifit children in Singapore. The theme I was given to work with is Make A Wish with the only requirement being it included a child. I used my adorable little cousin as reference.

Reminds me of Spongebob Squarepants blowing bubbles hah!

This is the kind of art that inspires an artist....or a banker, or a grocery clerk. Something that opens the minds eye and allows imagination free reign. Truly beautiful

Thanks so much for all your kind words My main inspiration was my favorite scene in the movie Labyrinth where he releases the crystals in the air that turn into the bubbles you can see images of the masquerade ball inside. I also had this great reference photo of my little cousin blowing bubbles

I remember the scene....I once tried to make a mask like the one David Bowie has on at the ball with the horns and the little skeleton hand holding on to it. It didn't turn out quite the way I hoped it would hahaha
Having a good reference pic can make all the difference, has your cousin seen the painting and does he recognize himself?

I love the ballroom scene also. Maybe if you ever decided to retry the mask it would work out. Every artist has those days where they just can't create anything right and I'm sure you leaned some from your mistakes the last time. My little cousin has seen the painting and loves it. He was probably only two or three when I took the photo and is six now. The painting was published in a book last year and he was so proud of himself that he was in a book

I can never do such a good acrylic painting. I tried once and it was a disaster.

Yeah acrylic paints take a little getting used to, but once you do they are great. I'm sure you just need more practice
