Finally finished my first entry for the MYO contest over at Woolynes . The contest runs until the 18th of July and those who do not win will have the ability to purchase their design through an art prompt, making these guys affordable to anyone who puts in the effort (: It's a great opportunity to get involved in a neat new character-driven CS (:

I'll probably come back and make some edits to her character, but for now, here's Ivy. Named quite originally for the Ivy-shaped leaf on her chest.

Backstory:

Ivy was raised in the city of Su-Bahn by an older couple who took her into their care after her birth parents abandoned her as an infant. While they never concealed her origins from her - that she wasn't biologically theirs - her adoptive parents showered her with love, for they saw her as a blessing given them in their old age.

Growing up, Ivy was hardly an only child. Her parents had multiple biological children before her, some of whom already had families of their own. Because of this, Ivy was raised in an environment that nurtured her to respect both the family unit - biological or not - and Woolynes of all walks of life.

Throughout her childhood, Ivy sought friends in everyone she encountered, and her charisma led her to take up the role amogst the village kids as the instigator of stories and make-believe adventures to embark on in the rough and tumble streets of Su-Bahn. Whenever a travelling storyteller or foreigner would walk through the marketplace, Ivy would be one of the first to notice, and would press them for tales of wonders and far-off lands. She fell in love with the narratives they told, but she always found herself most captivated by the ones they told of young Woolynes - often orphans, and of mysterious birth - who discovered their destinies lay in something far greater than themselves.

Though she hardly considered herself an orphan (she had two loving parents and a family to boot), she wasn't blind to the fact that her birth parents had given her up without leaving as much as a trace of themselves behind (besides her, of course). Ivy began to shape her thoughts to believe that maybe, she could be meant for something far greater than herself, like the children in the stories she so eagerly sought to hear.

Ivy acted on her ambitions, and began to scour the city for any and every kind of quest she could find - after all, if she wanted to be a hero like the ones from the stories, she would need to have something heroic to do. The work she found lay with the neighbourhood kids, and she quickly gained a reputation amongst them as a Woolyne who could put mysteries to rest, and who could be trusted to find the lost things you simply couldn't find on your own. Kids come to her now for help with any problem or mystery she is qualified to match, but while Ivy is pleased with the niche she has earned amongst her peers, the adventurer longs for more. And the more she learns more about the treasures and mysteries hidden in the dunes of Su-Bahn, and the more she thinks about the blurred figures who gave her up, she can't help but wonder when she will find the destiny she's truly meant to follow...
