Oh, I started making these creatures to practice color and quick design. I thought that if I made simple pictures and characters I'd be able to focus on the basics instead on portraying some particular concept or character. That's why I started painting these. I wanted to paint only a couple, but it turned to be quite fun actually so I decided to go for some more, and I learned a lot through the process.
For this one in particular, someone asked me to paint a phoenix, and since I was already painting creatures I said "why not". But I didn't want the traditional phoenix, so I based it on a crane. As for the sky, I must admit I felt lazy and threw some colors in and that's it
