This is not meant as social commentary, for what it's worth: I just like the shapes. There aren't any dustbins at the carnival (probably for security reasons, but also maybe practical ones) so people do the best they can by piling rubbish into spontaneous random heaps.Notting Hill Carnival, London, August 2002

Heh, we don't often give the masses enough credit for the instinctive ability they SOMETIMES have of organizing themselves into the semblance of some kind of hive-life. I usually don't care much for the masses, they act more like sheep and cattle than anything else. But this photograph is a kind of compliment to the rare moments that human "togetherness" shines through, in a bizarre, very unobvious sort of way.
Nice capture. Together with the caption it made me think. Great work, mission accomplished!

eh! I wanted to take a photo like this, but i ran out of film ,
it's got a very good message, the contrast is perfect, just crop the bit in the bottem of the frame.

Fairs and carnivals are dirty, smelly places. Moreso if it's a fair... especially a fair in a rural area. Yuck. Anyway, I like this; there's a lot to look at, but it's not cluttered.
