This turned out exactly how I imagined it! I wanted to capture the vibrant colours of a Chinese bamboo forest.The panda's gender is unspecified, so you can interpret it anyway you like. It's holding a bamboo flute as a gift offering, tied with a ribbon of gold silk. The mark on it's forehead is a symbol of it's position within the forest - a revered bard.
I hope to do more bookmark pieces and paint creatures I haven't attempted before.

I suppose it's been said many times before, but GREAT colour scheme! The vibrancy of the red against the relatively pastel greens is wonderful.
Good use of the space too, and I think you rendered the metal belt accents very well.

I like how the two bits of red contrast the rest of the drawing without drawing your eye away too much, the one on the forehead actually draws you to the face(which I think it looks male, because of the size and shape of the face)
