I really, really, really like this piece! From a personal standpoint, and an artistic one.
I love how you used the Native American motif for the painting, it really adds more depth to it. It also makes the definition and birthplace of the dream catcher more apparent (at least I think so anyway ) and the real look is amazing.
The contrast of white on black, edged with red on black is what got my eye to this piece, so that is very well done too. And the little "blurb" in your description adds to the surreal beauty that your work carries.
Great job! And keep it up!
(Also, I hope you do not mind if I use this for a project I am doing for school. I am adding your name, and a link to the picture!! All credits go back to you. If this is not alright, please let me know!!! And if it is, then thank you so much!)

actually, one of the best ways to deter theives is to not submit high quality pictures. if you submit a picture, submit it at 72dpi, and at 800pixels at its largest. you can't print that bigger than about 2x4 inches with it looking any good

The original pic (titled "Stalking Wolf") is licenced by Meiklejohn Graphics, UK. I have it on t-shirt and my lighter. Your pic here is not the first I've seen that's either a manip or referenced from the original pic - it's quite a popular pic (the original). I actually used the original myself to create this: www.creationplanet.com/files/Yukon.jpg (even though one can't easily see the resemblence). I can see though that certain parts of yours were copied and manipulated from the original rather than just as a reference - details like teeth spacing and sizes give that away...my guess is that you took the original and worked over it (?). That's exactly what I did with my Yukon pic (linked above).

Nobody knows who the original artist is...except maybe Chris Meiklejohn...I've sent an email asking the name of the artist, but I don't think I'll get a response. Here is a direct link to an original pic (yours doesn't seem to work): [link]

If you want to stay on the safe side, you might just want to give credit to http://www.meiklejohn.co.uk

Hey man! Thanx for the info. I checked out your page and it seems we have a lot of similar interests such as pool, choice of music and tv shows. Do you get a program called "supernatural" over there?

Let me know if Meiklejohn Graphics responds to your email. Cheerio!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

TauXero In reply to Ashalind [2006-03-20 20:31:18 +0000 UTC]

To be honest I don't watch much TV...I guess I watched too much when I was younger (same with most computer games), but I don't think we get "supernatural" here. Pool...now that I love! I enter compos on a regular basis, play for drinks/money occasionally, and play league 2x weekly. Music, yeah, I listen to a lot of genres..lately I'm also listening to a lot of drum & bass (which is really kicking off where I live).

I'll let you know if Meiklejohn replies, though I wouldn't count on it (I don't think they use that artist anymore anyway).

TauXero In reply to TauXero [2006-04-17 20:32:35 +0000 UTC]

Meiklejohn replied and said it's probably either by Robin Koni, Andrew Farley or Chris Hiett. By looking at their art it seems most likely to be by Andrew out of the 3, though there is still no clear indication anywhere on the internet - and in fact it seems most likely that it is none of the above. That picture is all over the internet (search "prowling wolf" on google images) on all kinds of merchandise, mostly posters, and absolutely nobody knows who the actual artist is.

Different websites *incorrectly* quoted Kevin Daniel, Art Wolfe, Peter Kull & John Pezzenti Jr. for being the artists..many state that the artist was anonymous. I did find something rather interesting though - what appears to be the photo used for reference to make the original work of art - a photo titled "The Outlaw" by "Art Wolfe" - [link] . Here is also a link with lots of other art by the same artist: [link]

Damn I never posted this here... I did actually find out who it was. It's Chris Hiett, who happens to be from Durban, here in South Africa. One of my friends here who came from Durban claims to have known him personally.

Veyr beautiful...never attemtpted it myself but snarling wolves are kinda difficult to do as I understand it. You did a fantastic job here, and the whole things looks very lifelike and quite dreamy, scarily fierce as the wolf may look Excellent job, keep it up!

That is anicely done. I love the way you made the mouth drop and the fangs look so real. one suggestion though, The face looks great, but in the eye area try and make it look mad, when i firt noticed the picture i only saw the top of the face, and the eyes looked like the dog was not angry at all. over all it is beautiful.
