Okay so I did this picture in 3 days. Been experimenting digital painting techniques since my laptop busted. Probably one of my best pictures so far... in my opinion. Would probably look better if I put more time in it, but I need to work on other stuff... like commissions. Some are done, and ready to be posted, but it would have to wait a few days. Can't be on too long...Crystal and art (c) to me

Absolutely AMAZING! You have real, great talent.
This is very beautiful. It brings a lot of emotion. Especially with the wings and the feathers, how it just spreads out and.. it's just amazing. It's difficult to explain the whole thing in words.
I also love the way he looks up, and his expression also brings out the painting. Everything does. You are very good at bringing out the emotion and meaning not explained in words from the painting. Everything in it seems to just blend in and mix in with the whole thing. Everything in the painting belongs. Great job, keep it up! ^w^

You have gorgeous colors! The greens kinda remind me of rusted copper, and the way you blended it with the browns is awesome. I also like the details on the character, and the pose gives him weight and mass in your painting. Nice job!
However, you focused way too much on the character. While your details are amazing, everything else seems a bit underdeveloped. Try to work on everything at once! For example, if you develop the detail of a wing, try to bring the rocks up to the same level of detail. Don't focus too much on one area!
Another thing would be the inconsistency of style. The rocks use really thick lines, while there are little or no lines elsewhere. If you want to bring attention to something, use more lines, more detail, sharper edges, and more contrast.
Speaking of contrast, there is way too much of it in the foreground. Combined with the lines, it brings too much attention to the rocks. Try to bring them to a middle tone, or try making them into a silhouette. It'll frame your painting nicely and direct the attention to your character.
Regarding composition, it feels like something is missing from your piece. There's only one selling point, and that is the character. There's not much scale, either. Your character could be a giant, or the size of an ant, and the viewer wouldn't be able to tell. The best way to solve this would be to add a human, but seeing that this isn't really the universe to do that, try adding something familiar to the viewer. A bird or animal, maybe. A car would also work, but that would be silly.
The most major thing I notice is the lack of perspective. The rocks are all about the same size! For more depth, try making some of them silhouetted, like I mentioned before, or making the ones that are closer, significantly bigger. Another thing would be that the background isn't really connected to the foreground. The rocks just suddenly end at one point! Try suggesting some rocks in the background, fading into the distance.
Oh, and something not as important, in a dry landscape that this, the rocks would be rather jagged, instead of round, as there would be no water to wear them down. There also wouldn't be as many cracked rocks, and for the same reason! It might help to make the texture on the rocks less soft and blurry.
More about texture-- the clouds seem a bit smeared, as do the mountains in the background! Though this might be a stylistic choice, try not to use a soft brush too much for texture! But you might want to use the soft brush for fog, or dramatic lighting. It's awesome for that.
