Time and You

We live our lives rushing places, cramming activities into our days,
Counting every moment, allocating a time for everything.
And forgetting that everything happens in its time and in it, the moments that count.

For you however, Time, seemed to hold no meaning.
It was as though you cared little for what it meant to others.
It was annoying.
You were always unhurried in your thoughts and actions.
It was as though you knew what was to come.
It was aggravating.

With you, Time seemed to slow.
Almost coming to a standstill.
Every thought and movement held meaning.
Each, calculated precisely and executed perfectly.

Before I met you,
I had a time for everything.
A time for everything but the things that mattered.

But you taught me.
You taught me the beauty of just letting them be.
You taught me to see beyond the visible, and to hear the unheard.

It was as though you lived in each and every moment,
Rather than just having them pass you through.

We could be in a crowded marketplace or anywhere for that matter,
Where you would deliberately slow your steps,
Close your eyes and say,

“Tell me what you hear.”

Where once it would have been just noise to me,
Now I hear the rhythm, the hum, the beat of life.

You would then gently ask,

“What do you see?”

You taught me to see through your eyes,
The beauty of the world that would still be when our time ends.

Every moment with you became a lesson.
And nothing could have been more amazing.
Before I knew it,
You had become an essential part of my life.
But you were gone before I had the chance to tell you so.

Now I find myself taking time to look and listen.
I close my eyes and I can still hear your voice,
And suddenly the world becomes more beautiful than it already is.
