Description
A very basic outline of this picture has been sitting at my desk for over a year now and today, as I had some free time, I decided to pull it out and finish it. Robin Hood is one of my favorite legends, I adore Errol Flynn in the Adventures of Robin Hood (it's one of my favorite movies) and I always think of Robin and Maid Marian as eternal lovers, a love that spans generations of time because of the beauty of it. Needless to say, however, this picture was of Maid Marian first meeting our handsome rouge and of course she's not impressed. Imagine the scene where Robin Hood shows up to crash Prince John's feast as a dramatic, smart-ass hero. He's rude, brash, common and covered by all flith of the forest and she just can't take her eyes off him Robin of course, as we all know, is smitten on site.

Maid Marian's dress was easy enough, I just wanted something clean but elegant that would flow beautifully so you would be drawn to her. I pulled her hair down, though I'm not sure how era appropriate I'm being...oh well, she turned out just the way I wanted. Robin was tricky as I was being too lazy to reink pencil so I drew him entirely with pen. I was on the edge of my seat needless to say hoping I wouldn't mess up...His outfit I designed pulled from many different Robin Hood's of the screen. You see Errol Flynn's sleeves, while Kevin Costner (who CAN'T act and the only saving grace of that whole movie was Alan Rickman as the sherriff) brought in the scarf and armored tunic. He's wearing Richard the Lionheart's seal which I though very appropriate and he also has engraving of trees and such on his arms. He is the FIRST woodsman after all.

(PS: We can't forget the AMAZING Robin Hood Men in Tights now can we?? Because lets face it...You gotta be a man to wear tights!! Still one of the bests!)
