We went to a pub quiz held in a theatre as part of the Sci-fi Lon Festival. The beer was donated by Scottish & Newcastle and I joined up with a group of people on the SFX forum and the SFX Magazine writers and editors themselves. Despite having 13 members in our group and supposed 'experts' we still didn't get placed. In fact the winners only got 30 out of 105 so it was very hard. Afterwards, the SFX forumites retired to a pub where we talked about Doctor Who non-stop.

This was the second year in a row we have done this so next year in early May we shall no doubt do it all over again. This year we didn't know anything about about 50s and 60s radio sci fi serials. Last year it was Russian Sci-fi that bamboozled us. I think the quiz organiser has seen, read and heard every vaguely sci-fi related creative work going!

Hi Lady-blue - I made the whole thing myself but you can buy tiara bases from Hobbycraft if you are in the UK, I know you can get them in silver and gold but I don't know about any other colours.

Personally I think its less expensive and easier to make your own base, just make sure the wire is strong enough and thick enough to start with

I wouldn't even know how to begin making my own base! I'm just a beaded flower girl. I'm in the US. Perhaps I'll look at some of the craft shops around here.

because i just got into tiara making, i think i can help you with this one. you take wire, make a loop big enough to fit your head, loop it four more times, and then wrap wire all of that to hold it together. here's the tutorial i looked at: [link]
