Mehfil is a collection based on medieval times get togethers in Indian kingdom. the art form is inspired from folk art of India. whole series depicst the indian folk style of art . and theme is also medieval indian history . First of all, I love the WHOLE Mehfil series.
I love all the patterns/shapes Ashishji uses to make intricate geometrical backgrounds, clothes, etc. I love the flowiness of the saris, lehengas, and all the other clothing these beautiful women wear. This is such an amazing picture in the series. I love the way her dupatta (shawl/scarf) is draped and flowing. The idea of filling the pot of lotuses with water is just great! I love the curtains and background too! This art is such a great twist to typical Indian art. It reminds me of the beautiful Madhubani paintings of Madhubani, Bihar, India. I can imagine this scene in real, along with all the rest of Ashishji's pictures. I also love the out-of-proportion bodies that are often seen in Indian art. What else can I say other than this work is just gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. I suggest anyone to see the rest of this stunning series. This is EXTREMELY deserving of a daily deviation! Breathtaking. First off, this is a beautiful work, and the colours work very well together. My only buff with it is that it feels just a little too busy. My eyes tended to go everywhere, before settling on the main focus of the picture. Maybe try and use less lines in the background, or try and have them point more towards the woman? The woman is beautiful, and the colours of the plant stand out, yet compliment the dress in a stunning way. I love the simplicity of the picture, with warms and cools complimenting each other. Overall, a very nice picture.
