Fanart for Duolingo! Thanks to the Duolingo staff and volunteers! Duo has really kept me practising daily. My German would be sooo rusty without it. The cultivation of the daily habit alone has also been vital for the other two languages I'm learning, which aren't so readily available, so really, thanks! ...and I love that you've got Welsh up there. <3Related content

Yes, Duolingo is really helpful, but only when we become beginners through other sites. I redownloaded Duolingo before yesterday just to practice my German, Russian, French, Japanese and Chinese (rip I have not practised Chinese since a long time) and it looks much better than the previous version!
Again, it is great!

Ah, this is really lovely! Always happy to see you uploading new work! I recently left Duolingo. People in the Japanese-learning community kept telling me that I shouldn't use it but I ended up going for it and man was it detrimental to the learning process in the long run. I'm glad it works for some people out there though. I see them constantly updating things so hopefully they're getting proper feedback for the future.

I'm not learning Japanese so I can't possibly comment there! I already had a strong understanding of German before using Duolingo, but it has built on that and has definitely made it easier to work on further by keeping what I already know fresh in my head. Duo is just one tool in many I use, but I certainly don't go through old textbooks daily like I do with the app. But because I do use the app daily, I am more likely to go through old textbooks than I was, if that makes sense; German is not a big huge scary thing I've not approached in months, it's something that's been made manageable. I'm way more confident with German than I was before and I am picking up on new things now and again which are slowly smoothing out the persistent errors I've always made. Without Duo and so without daily practise, I'd not be progressing at all. In that respect it works for me, but I had several years of biweekly lessons in German and so it's mostly just supporting that!

Ah I see. I was using it as a supportive tool as well but it's a very unique and constrictive teaching method so it may not be compatible with other language-learning mediums. Glad it's efficient for you. German is a lovely language.
